THE YEAR MY PARENTS WENT ON VACATION
OVERVIEW
Dates:
6/1/2007 - 8/11/2008
Based on the strength of our release of the Brazil-themed film MANDA BALA, director Cao Hamburger and producer Fabiano
Gullane of Gullane Filmes approached City Lights to see if we would handle the North American release of their film THE
YEAR MY PARENTS WENT ON VACATION. Shortly after acquiring the film, it was selected as Brazil’s entry to the Academy
Awards foreign film category by the Brazilian cultural ministry.
Created and spearheaded the theatrical marketing campaign. Hired and managed the entire marketing and distribution team
for the opening plus the Academy Award campaign. The film opened in New York a month before the Academy Awards nominations were announced. TYMPWOV played at the prestigious Paris Theater in Manhattan for four weeks followed by a roll-out
in 30 major cities across the US. The film went on to become one of the top five grossing foreign language films of 2007. Our
efforts were also rewarded when the film made the short list for the Academy Awards. It went from over one hundred films
to nine. AWARDS

OVERVIEW
STARRING
Jessica Alba, Winona Ryder, Paul Rudd, Famke Janssen, Liev Schreiber, Gretchen Mol
Dates: 2/20/2006 -> 2/15/2008
David Wain, creator of Comedy Central series STELLA, the MTV series THE STATE and director of WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER and ROLE MODELS, Ken Marino, star of WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER and VERONICA MARS, and
Paul Rudd, star of KNOCKED UP, 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN, ANCHORMAN, and CLUELESS submitted the script to me
in February of 2006. Worked together on the script in order to make it more cohesive and more commercially viable in the marketplace. Submitted script notes and polished the final draft. Worked with the casting directors
to attach a cast to the project that would raise its commercial and therefore make it easier to finance. Worked
together to get the budget to a number everyone was comfortable with so that the investment could be recouped
at worst and make a profit at best. In March of that year, attached Jessica Alba to the project and because of this,
the film was greenlit for production. Continued to cast the film, negotiated and approved the contracts for Winona Ryder, Adam Brody, Liev Schrieber, Oliver Platt and Famke Janssen. Met with investers throughout the Summer and were fully financed and ready to shoot by August 2008. During the 26 day shoot , was the Executive in
charge of production on set making sure that the producers were keeping within budget and that the production
was running smoothly in order to complete the film within schedule. Once production was complete, was in the
editing room with the director and the editors making sure that the final cut of the film was working for he. After
submitting, THE TEN was accepted to the Sundance Film Festival 2007 as one of the main events. THE TEN broke a
Sundance Film Festival record when the film had the most amount of people turned away at the door.

OVERVIEW
STARRING
Rosario Dawson
DATES: 9/29/2005 -> 2/5/2008
Responsible for sheparding the film all the way from script through distribution in theaters and on Home Media (DVD and digital downloads). Rosario Dawson, star of the hit films SIN CITY, RENT, CLERKS 2, ALEXANDER
and KIDS, and first-time director Talia Lugacy submitted the script to City Lights. Worked with them on revising
the script and offered script notes on how to turn it into a more streamlined and commercial project. After two
months of re-writing, the script was finished and greenlit into production. Put together the casting and kew crew
with Ms. Dawson and Ms. Lugacy during pre-production. Worked with producers Morris Levy and Jeff Mazzola to
get the budget to a number that made commercial sense in the motion picture market at the time. Was Executive
in Charge of Production during production, responsible for overseeing the crew and making sure that everything
was running smoothly and that the filming was sticking to the approved budget. Once the shoot was completed,
worked with Ms. Lugacy, Ms. Dawson and the editors to cut the film down from the 150 minute rough cut that the
Ms. Lugacy had initially submitted to a more commercial 104 minute version. The film was completed in March of
2007 just in time for that year’s Tribeca Film Festival. As City Lights Pictures became a distribution company, was
eventually in charge of making sure that the film opened theatrically in the U.S. Hired, managed and directed all
the activities of all the publicists, market researchers, advertising companies, and the whole crew of distribution
executives that were essential to the succesful distribution of the film. The film premiered at the Village East Cinema on the 10th of August, 2007. Served as consultant to the Home Entertainment division on the creation of the
DVD and the promotional materials for the release in the Home Video market. The film has been very succesfull
on home video and continues to do great business today.
