2014 Annual Report
Families do better when they stay together
www.saviohouse.org
Savio, KaBoom!, Foresters
and the Lions Club of Denver,
with the help of so many others, built a
playground in July. These dedicated
individuals spent two months planning and
then building the playground. The final
build day was a tremendous success and
the playground is open to neighborhood
families as well. A big thank you
goes out to all of the volunteers!

Savio Highlights
Council on Accreditation (COA) - A Success!
In the last half of 2014, Savio worked diligently to prepare for the COA
(Council on Accreditation) reaccreditation process. Savio is proud of our team
of Trustees, volunteers and staff for this amazing accomplishment. COA accreditation means that our organization’s programs, services, administration
and management have been rigorously evaluated and meet best practice
standards. Savio had no areas of improvement listed by the peer reviewers. . . . the best possible
outcome!
Volunteers came to Savio at four different times to clean, remodel, paint and to build a playground. Approximately 220 people were introduced to this outstanding Lions Club project.
Raised funds!
The Board of Trustees and the Fund Raising Committee raised $29,000 through Colorado Gives
Day and the holiday solicitation letter. These donations help with meals, clothing and gifts for Savio
children and families. A heartfelt thank you to all who worked on these projects and made gifts!
Adolescent Program Accomplishments
Savio was selected by the Colorado Division of Youth Corrections to provide intensive level parole
and transition planning for paroling youth.
MultiSystemic Therapy for Youth with Problem Sexual Behavior is the first offense specific treatment
to be cited by the Colorado University, Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence as a
Blueprints program.
Child Protection Program Accomplishments
Savio’s first full year of providing Casework Services in Colorado Springs with a new staff of 23
caseworkers, 3 supervisors and 9 visitation workers was a major success. The goal, to reunify
children with their parents through counseling and education, was achieved with El Paso County
now having the lowest number of children in residential care in recent memory.
The child abuse and neglect prevention program SafeCare had a successful first
year with 350 families screened and over 90 families with completed intakes. This
program is now one of Savio’s long list of evidence based programs, effectively
serving families.

her military discipline and experience to every task she assumes. Laura Morris, the Savio Management Coordinator,
comes to SMG with 15 years of criminal justice consulting in evidence-based practice, risk and need assessment and database
implementation with juvenile and adult justice agencies from
across the US. Laura and Krista are excited to find new opportunities to apply their expertise to strengthen Colorado families and communities.
