GREATER HARTFORD POLICE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION

May 2011
A MESSAGE TO OUR MEMBERS:
We had our 61st Annual Meeting on March 25th and it was a pleasure to see everyone there. Our Chairman, Gordon Jones conducted his last annual meeting
as he stepped down due to personal health concerns. We presented a plaque to Gordon to thank him for his many years of service to the Credit Union and
wished him well. We will miss him and his dedication to making our credit union one of the best financial institution in the area. We also celebrated our
Loan Officer Julie Mangiagli’s 25th anniversary with the credit union.
An update to the Public Safety Complex issue on our efforts to have an office located in the building is still undetermined and we are waiting to hear from
the new city administration. I will communicate to everyone once a final decision has been made.
The credit union has made significant achievements in 2010 by increasing our size to over $18 million at year end (we’re now over $19.5 million). We also
saw our membership reach 2000 members and our investments exceeded our loans for the first time. This points out our desire to put out more loans which
is good for the credit union while helping our members at the same time.
This year we had one Board position up for re-election and that was for Andy Weaver who, being unopposed, was elected for another 3 year term. Also,
with Gordon’s position open for the remaining two years, the board appointed Gerald Kumnick as director to fill his term. He must run next year for election
if he wishes to remain on the Board. Gerry was a former Board member with a great deal of credit union experience.
The economy is recovering slowly but we are looking to better times and prosperity. Our Credit Union is here to help all our members achieve their financial
success. Please think of us for any financial needs you have, whether it’s a home equity loan or a certificate of deposit investment. We, like most credit
unions are using electronic services to help members as well as becoming “greener” in our operations and in the services we provide. Our Mobile banking,
e-statements and e-alerts are just the beginning but we have not lost sight of the basic everyday services that our members require in order to meet their
financial needs. We are both high tech as well as high touch. Thanks for keeping us in mind.
Sincerely,
Michael W. Williamson, Mgr/CEO

Greater Hartford Police Federal Credit Union is now offering Reverse
Mortgages. A reverse mortgage allows you to access the equity in
our home and you receive tax free income rather than making
any payments.
To qualify for a Reverse Mortgage you must be 62 or older and own
your home. Many seniors are finding it increasingly difficult to keep
up with many of their ongoing expenses. A Reverse Mortgage can
assist with; Real Estate Taxes, Healthcare Costs, Paying off your
current mortgage, Home maintenance, and in some cases Reverse
Mortgages are used as a supplement to monthly income.
A reverse mortgage allows people the financial security necessary to
be able to continue to remain living in their home. This is a
Government Insured Loan thousands of seniors have taken
advantage of. Your home remains in your name and you can use the
equity that you have built up over the years.
In addition to being backed by the US government, Reverse Mortgages
are also supported by groups like AARP and is highlighted at senior
center presentations. The Greater Hartford Police would like to point
out the benefits of this product to your specific situation.
