Find a Food Chain - Alabama Wildlife Federation

Find a Food Chain
Name:_________________________ Date: _______________
Step 1: Visit the outdoor
classroom and look for
evidence of a food chain such
as a partially eaten leaf and/or
the wildlife that might have
eaten it. If you cannot find
any wildlife, then look for
evidence of a specific animal’s
presence such as a bird
feather or spider web.
Step 2: Draw pictures of the
food chain “evidence” in the
boxes to the right, showing
the flow of energy from the
sun through the food chain.
Step 3: Next try to guess
what animal(s) or plant(s) the
other links in the food chain
might be, and draw and label
them in the food chain.
Step 4: Now label the part(s)
of the food chain:
first-level consumer
producer
second-level consumer
third-level consumer
A food chain represents how
energy is passed from plants
to animals.
