SWIMMING AUSTRALIA LIMITED TEAM OPERATIONS COORDINATOR BACKGROUND Swimming Australia Ltd. (SAL) is the peak body for competitive swimming in Australia with approximately 1000 clubs and 90,000 registered members nationally. SAL revenue sources include funding from the Australian Government through the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and corporate partnership investment from sponsors such as Hancock Prospecting, Network Seven, Speedo, the Accor Group and Sperry. Our Strategic High Performance Plan is built on the three performance streams of Olympic Pool Swimming, Open Water Swimming and Paralympic Pool Swimming. We have identified seven key performance drivers that will enable achievement of our vision including: i. Program Governance and Leadership; v. National Competition Plan; ii. Integrated National Technical Direction; vi. Sustainable Performance Pathway; and iii. Daily Performance Environments; vii. Embedded SSSM provision and innovation. iv. National Team Culture; You will assist our key people with the delivery of high quality, effective high performance camps, tours and activities across our three performance streams of Olympic Pool, Paralympic and Open Water. STRATEGIC CONTEXT Following the adoption of the Strategic High Performance Plan and a review of the key needs of the High Performance Unit, we have established two hubs within the High Performance Unit; the operations hub at the SAL office at the Australian Institute of Sport (Bruce, ACT) and the technical hub in South-East Queensland. Reporting to the Team Operations Manager and working across the three performance streams, this position plays an essential role in supporting the High Performance Unit by delivering key administrative and logistical functions. Location - Canberra, ACT or Brisbane, QLD Salary – Up to $50,000 (plus statutory on-costs) RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets for SAL high performance programs. • Provide day-to-day administrative and travel support to key members of High Performance Unit staff. • Organise flights, accommodation, transport, outfitting and training venues for all allocated camps, tours and activities and key staff of the HPU. • Provide logistical support for the SAL National Training Centre based in Canberra, SAL’s Paralympic Training Centre at the University of Sunshine Coast and Podium Performance Centres. • For any assigned camp, tour or activity, liaise with, and be a primary contact for, effective and efficient communication with all swimmers, coaches and support staff who are • • • • • • selected on Australian swim teams or squads. Ensure that effective relationships with sponsors and commercial suppliers are maintained by sourcing appropriate brand related items. As part of a team, assist with the coordination of SAL’s anti-doping policies and procedures. Assist with the administration of the Athlete Management System (AMS). Attend national events, team camps and tours as requested. Assist the Team Operations Manager as required. Support and undertake specific project-based work as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED • Highly evolved and professional interpersonal and communication skills. • Understanding, experience and empathy in working with elite athletes and coaches from an Olympic or Paralympic program perspective. • Experience managing complex programs, projects or events that involve both internal and external stakeholders. • Experience working with team members from diverse backgrounds and locations. • Experience in arranging complex group travel within Australia and overseas. • The ability to determine work priorities, meet deadlines and work constructively as a member of a small team. • Strong financial understanding and ability to work with accounts. • Good understanding of the concepts of sports science/sports medicine and strength and conditioning. • Tertiary qualifications in sports administration or relevant experience would be an advantage. • Knowledge of anti-doping procedures within elite sport.
