Position Description
Campaign Manager
Position Context
The primary purpose of this position is to:

Develop and implement go-to-market strategies which promote the value of La Trobe to a
variety of stakeholders including prospective students and influencers.

Lead, manage and coordinate integrated end-to-end campaign design and management
across the division including the relationship of providers of such services.
The division of Marketing and Recruitment plays a key role in profiling and positioning of La Trobe
University as a first choice among its diverse community, target and stakeholder groups, including
potential students and staff.
Market Development provides integrated services with a focus on go-to-market strategies including:
end-to-end campaign design and management, brand strategy and management, market research,
pricing and product, sponsorship management and event management.
Duties at this level may include:








Responsible for go-to-market strategy and implementation.
Provide strategic support and advice to schools or faculties requiring integration of a range of
internal and external demands, and an ability to achieve objectives operating within complex
organisation structures.
Develop systems, or programs (including priorities, policies and procedures) within given broad
statements of role objectives, where considerable latitude or input applies in the initial
definition of the role objectives and/or where implementation responsibilities have been
substantially devolved, subject to agreed budgets and periodic review against performance
objectives.
Have independence in the allocation of resources within constraints established by senior
management. Performs high level creative, planning and management functions.
Make significant high level creative, planning or management contributions.
Conceptualise, develop and review major professional, management or administrative policies at
the corporate level.
Perform tasks requiring the planning, development and review of major professional,
management or administrative policies at a senior management level.
Review performance over time in the area of responsibility and compares it to best practice
elsewhere, identifying areas of improvement in structure, practices, policies and technology,
reporting where appropriate.

Identify trends, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks in professional area of
responsibility that may have an impact on the University to enable appropriate and timely action
to be administered, reporting where appropriate.

Take into account the views and interests of others and carry prime responsibility for the
development or significant amendment of policies or systems which impacts the University.
Participate in the annual business planning process to support strategic direction of own work
area.
Under broad direction, manage other administrative, technical and/or professional staff.
Develop and maintain an effective and cohesive team and ensure effective team communication
processes.





















Develop, motivate and mentor administrative, technical and/or professional staff within work
area to improve their capability to better meet current and future requirements.
Ensure that direct reports are customer service focused, empowered, motivated and equipped
with appropriate skills.
Independently allocate resources within parameters established by senior management.
Substantial management responsibility, usually for a diverse set of functions, including
responsibility for setting and reviewing longer term performance criteria and objectives.
Be an influential contributor to decisions over the allocation or use of substantial resources.
Responsible for managing significant resources, or have a strong impact on the deployment of
significant resources.
Conceptualise, develop and review major policies, objectives and strategies involving high level
liaison with internal and external areas.
Responsible for programs involving major change which may impact on other areas of the
institution's operations.
Develop and review major policies, objectives, programs or strategies involving high level liaison
with internal and external stakeholders, including framing relevant internal consultation and
negotiation strategies.
Propose and implement programs involving major change which may impact on other areas of
the institution's operations.
Shape strategic direction of own area of responsibility, planning and organising activities of
others over many months, considering the implications now and in the longer term, to support
College/School/Division/Department/Sub unit objectives.
Ensure a continuous review of quality and of external benchmarks to promote the best possible
service.
Ensure there is continuous monitoring of customer service standards and feedback and that
review mechanisms are in place to enable ongoing service expectations and standards to be
met.
Lead by example by delivering excellent customer service support to all internal and external
stakeholders.
Interact with senior colleagues across all areas of the University, with internal and external
committees and other external bodies, providing high level input.
Ensure services now and in future are shaped to meet stakeholder needs.
Ensure quality processes are in place for the University.
Represent the University externally in sector groups and in negotiations.
Key Selection Criteria may include:
• A degree, extensive management expertise and supporting experience, or postgraduate
qualifications and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent alternate combination of
relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
