KEY APPLICATION INFORMATION AND LABEL Rovral GT can be applied as a preventative treatment in a monthly program or as a curative at the first sign of disease presence in turf. Rovral GT (Iprodione) may be very unstable in tank conditions where the pH is 7 or higher. It is essential to check the pH before mixing and maintain below 7 when applying the product. LI 700 is a suitable adjuvant to achieve acidic tank conditions. Rovral GT is a penetrant fungicide with translaminar movement and therefore good coverage is essential in achieving good disease control. Rovral GT should be applied in 400–600 litres of water per hectare to target leaf diseases and above 600L for soil-borne diseases. Irrigation with 2–4mm is required to assist the movement of the fungicide into the soil to control diseases in the rootzone. Situation Disease Rate Critical Ornamentals Botrytis Blight (Botrytis cinerea) 200mL/100L water Spray at 14 day intervals commencing when the disease first becomes apparent and continuing until conditions no longer favour the disease. Spraying Saintpaulia, Poinsettia and Cyclamen flowers may result in some petal scorch. Tepid water should be used and plants protected from direct sunlight. This use is subject to an AFRAC anti-resistant strategy: Do not apply more than 3 consecutive Chipco Rovral GT or related dicarboximide fungicides. Recreational Turf Brown Patch (Rhizoctonia solani) 120–180mL/10–150L water/100m2 Curative Program: Repeat treatment after 14 days. The results over many years of use by turf managers have supported what scientists have recently discovered, that Rovral GT still remains as the turf industry’s fastest curative fungicide. The unique formulation continues to deliver superior results when controlling the major turf diseases in the days after an application. The speed of curative activity is extremely important to any turf manager as it largely determines the rate of turf recovery. Therefore, a slower acting curative fungicide will allow the turf disease to advance even after the fungicide is applied. This will lead to scaring in the turf that may take weeks to recover. The proven performance of Rovral GT has provided the turf manager with years of rapid and effective disease control, which has assisted in the maintenance of exceptional turf surfaces. Rovral GT is a locally systemic fungicide with both protective and curative activity. Iprodione controls susceptible fungi by inhibiting germination of fungal spores and growth of mycelium (a vegetative part of the fungus) on plant tissue. Rovral GT possesses locally systemic movement (translaminar) capabilities within plants, meaning that when used as a foliar treatment, it has the capacity to penetrate into leaf tissue, moving from the upper leaf surface to the bottom leaf surface, enhancing protection of the entire leaf area. Rovral GT’s translaminar capability also ensures that plant pathogens growing within plant tissue can be effectively controlled via an application of Iprodione. Rovral GT is a Group 2 fungicide. With many of our turf fungicides now in the Group 3 or 11 classifications, Rovral GT offers a useful rotational tool from a programming perspective. 5 KEY BENEFITS OF ROVRAL GT •R APID DISEASE KNOCKDOWN – faster turf recovery, reducing scaring potential. •B ROAD SPECTRUM DISEASE CONTROL – offers exceptional control of major turfgrass diseases both inside and outside the plant. •P REMIUM OIL BASED FORMULATION – offers superior sticking ability and extended residual control when compared to other formulations. •U NIQUE SOLVENT PACKAGE – this provides superior movement of iprodione into the plant. •P ROVEN PERFORMANCE – used for many years providing both consistent and reliable performance. “ Ordinarily a superintendent would have to use a contact fungicide to knock down mycelium, but you don’t get the long residual control out of a contact fungicide. Superintendents can use Rovral GT to get rid of mycelium and also benefit from long-term control. Dr J Vargas, Michigan State University. ”
