AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE NUMEERING OF HOUSES
AND BUILDINGS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF NAPLES AND
PRESCPIEING PLAN OF NUMBERING, DESIGNATING THE TIME WITHIN SAID
,..-- NUMBERING SHALL BE DONE, THE MANNER OF SUCH NUMBERING AND THE PENAL TY
FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NAPLES:
S ection 1. That rroperty abutting upon the Streets of the City of
Nanles be numbered as follows:
A. Property abutting on streets crossin g Central Avenue, or
running at right angles thereto, be numbered North and South from
Central Avenue, beginning with numbers 1 and 2 respectively, and
numbering away from Central Avenue. The numbers North from Central
Avenue shall be designated as "No. 1 North" or "No. 2 North" and the
numbers South from Centra l Avenue sha l l he desi gnated as "No. 1 'outh"
or "No. 2 South" etc. The numberin g upon those streets so crossing
Cent ral Avenue sha l l be made so as to place a ll odd numbers on the
l e f t hand side of the st r eet going away from Central Avenue in each
direction as the numbers increase, and the even numbers on the right
hand side o f the street crossing Central Avenue going emav from said
Centra l Avenue in either direction. One Hundred (100) shall be for
each block. Fifty (50) odd numbers on the left hand side ? and Fifty
(50) even numbers on the right hand side; in the residential sections
of the City three (3) feet street fron'age be a l l(Teed for each
number, and in the business section, two (2) feet be allowed for each
number.
B. Property abutt i ng on all streets runn i ng East and West shall
be numbered from the Gu l f of Mex i co, beg i nni ng with the numbers 1 and
2 respectively and numbering away from the Gulf of Mexico. The
numbers on the l eft hand s i de going away from the Gulf of Mexico
shall be odd numbers, and on the right hand side going away from the
Gulf of Mexico shall be even numbers. One Hundred (100) numbers
shall be f o r each block. F i fty (50) odd numbers on the l eft hand
side and fifty (50) even numbers on the ri g ht hand side; in the
residential sections of the City, l our ( L ) feet street frontage be
alloyed for each number, and in the business section, Three (3) feet
be allowed for each number.
Section 2. The C i ty Manager is he r eby requ i red to fu rni sh f o all
_pro p erty owners or occupants, upon request, the Droner number of their
property, and is authorized to fix the correct number wherever the
occupancy of the property is such as to render doubtful the correct
numbering.
Section q . The City Manager is hereby authorized to n rocure suitable
numbers to be furnished to owners or occupants who desire 'them, at
cost, and to nrocrre the correct numberin g of all houses, stores and
other occupied premises, and the owners o f a ll houses, stores and other
occup:_ed -remises are hereby rec ir ed to have '

upon conv iction thereof, be punished by fine not exceedin g F ieee ($5.00)
Dollars, or by imn risonment at hard labor i n the City J-i i fer not
more than Five Days.
