A Short Guide to Finding Periodicals in Literature Resource Center
Full-text access to many literary periodicals (such as The New Yorker) is available via Literature
Resource Center. In order to browse issues of these periodicals or search for a particular topic
in one of them, follow the steps below.
1. Access Literature Resource Center
Start at the Library's Homepage (http://www.sulross.edu/library/)
Under "Research Resources," click "Find Articles in Research Databases."
Choose "I-L"
Click "Literature Resource Center."
2. Find a specific periodical (example: The New Yorker)
Once you have accessed Literature Resource center, click "Advanced Search" in
the blue menu bar at the top of the screen.
From the drop down menu, choose "Publication Title (pu)*."
On the far right hand side click "Browse."
In the search box, type the name of the periodical (example: "New Yorker") and
click "Find."
Select the periodical title (example: The New Yorker) by checking the box to the
left of the title.
The periodical title (example: The New Yorker) will now appear in a box on the
right of the screen. Click "Submit" at the bottom of this box.
The search box should now show "Publication Title (pu)* "The New Yorker."
3. Browse a specific periodical (example: The New Yorker)
Follow the steps in #2, "Find a specific periodical" and Click "Search"
On the far right-hand side of the screen drop down the "Sort by" box and choose
"Publication Date (Descending.)
4. Search a specific periodical (example: The New Yorker)
Follow the steps in #2, "Find a specific periodical"
In the second drop down box, choose "Keyword (ke)."
Type in your topic in the right-hand box and click "Search."
