LESSON 1 NUMERICAL EXPRESSIONS Activity 1: Click on Digits below and sign into your account. Click on Practice at the top of the page. Now click on Glossary . Type Numerical Expression in the search bar and when it pops up click on it. Get a piece of notebook paper and write down the definition and the 2 examples given. "X" out of Digits when finished. Your notes should look like this: Numerical Expression (definition) Examples: (2 different examples) Get with a partner and come up with as many words as you can for each operation. Example: "minus" means Write these in your notes under the appropriate operation. (look below first) Your notes should look like this: + minus x ÷ When you and your partner think you have come up with as many as you can think of show the teacher. Activity 2: Click on the link below and watch the video until the 2:30 mark (you can stop after the words for division). Add any new words to your notes. "X" out of VirtualNerd when done. Get the LearnZillion note sheet and watch the video below filling it out as you go. You can watch as many times as you need. After showing your notes to your teacher hole punch them and put them in your binder. Pick up the Note Sheet (on blue color paper). Read through them thoroughly. Feel like you have mastered Numerical Expressions??? If so, get the Exit Ticket from your teacher, complete it and turn it in to be graded. If you pass with an 80% you are done with Lesson 1 and can move on to Enrichment. If not, complete Activity 3. Activity 3: Pick up the baggie with the Expression Matching Game in it and match the numerical expression with the correct numerical phrase. When finished see your teacher for the answer key. Feel like you have mastered Numerical Expressions??? If so, get the Exit Ticket from your teacher, complete it and turn it in to be graded. If you pass with an 80% you are done with Lesson 1 and can move on to Enrichment. If not, complete Activity 4. Activity 4: Pick up the Numerical Expressions cut and paste worksheet and complete it. See your teacher for the answer key. You are now done with Lesson 1 and can move on to Enrichment!
