her endeavor to trap Jack L u ster, co n cea ls
her own hum ble orig in . In tbe play it turns
out th a t she is n oth in g but a butch er’s
daughter.

brother, Dick Podds, a com m on fello w , a p ­
pears at odd m om ents w ith an n oying re­
q u ests for m oney. The return of th e head
of the house of L u ster and tho d iscovery
o f the real Jack Luster, in th e person o f
A lbert W orth, furnish additional elem en ts o f
m errim ent and lead up to the grand clim a x
in which all is discovered.
F rancis K elly, who played th e part of the
gllb-tongued im postor, certa in ly m ade the
m ost of h is op p ortu n ities and scored a d e ­
cided h it w ith the audience. H is a tte n tio n
to d eta ils gave a finished portrayal of the
part.
in the role ot Judge Shaw W illiam J. McCahill gave an adm irable im personation of
an aged Jurist. The scene w here he is forced

ond act was esp e cia lly good and cam e in for
its share of applause.

N ettie Shaw, her daughter, played th e p art
with great v ivacity and enjoyed th e h earty
approval of the audience.
As Armlnda Bertram P on sb ey. th e p o etic
butcher’s daughter, Dorothy D earborn d e v d oped much en th u siasm . She gave an ex cel­
lent rendering ot a good part.
