Tank Placement Place the aquarium on a level, strong surface that is able to support the weight of the assembled aquarium and cannot be damaged by water. The aquarium should be located near an electrical outlet to provide power for the light and filter. Use of a GFCI rated outlet or circuit is recommended. Completely set up the 3 gallon aquarium kit before plugging filter and light into electrical outlet. 5. Adding Gravel 6. LED Light Set Up 6. Hood Functions Assemble the Undergravel System inserting the Riser Tube into the Xshaped plate. Rinse materials in running water – aquarium, gravel, stones, plastic plants and other decorations, etc. Connect one end of the airline tubing to the Air Pump, connecting the opposite end to the airstone. Place gravel, rocks and decorations in the tank now, spreading the gravel evenly across the bottom of the aquarium. Slide the airstone to the bottom of the Riser Tube. Be sure to form a drip loop in the airline tubing to prevent back draining in case of electrical loss. Gravel and Decorations are not included with this aquarium kit. Place the Hood on top of the tank and make sure it is fully seated. Insert LED light unit into back of hood, turning to the right and tighten snuggly to secure it. Insert power adaptor plug into the LED light unit. Plug power adaptor into standard 110 volt wall socket. Use of a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) is always recommended when using electrical appliances around water. 7. Filling Tank Fill the aquarium with water to within one inch of the top of the tank. Do not overfill since spillage may occur. Add a tap water conditioner such as Stress Coat by API to remove chlorine and other harmful chemicals found in tap water. 8. Operating LED Light You can turn on/off the LED light by pushing the blue button switch on top of the hood. To select a specific light color, continue to press the blue button until desired color is located. If you are adding fish right away, it is recommended to use Quick Start by API, immediately starts the natural aquarium cycle allowing for instant addition of fish. 9. Adding Optional Heater Optional) If you are adding a heater (heater not included) remove the section shown below by using side cutting pliers and cutting the attached webbing. Read and follow the heater’s instructions. Check with your retailer for recommended heater settings. Adjust heater settings as directed. Selecting Fish Patience is important when establishing your new aquarium. Begin by talking to an aquatic professional at your local aquarium store about which fish are best suited for your aquarium and are compatible with each other, and how many would be appropriate for your aquarium. Inform them that you have just set up a new aquarium so they can recommend hardy fish. Be sure that the fish are eating and acting normally. Check for ragged fins that can be caused by harmful bacteria or white spots caused by parasites. Always choose healthy looking fish. You can add additional accessories by removing one of the two sections shown below. Use side-cut pliers to remove cutouts by cutting attached sections. Do not add too many fish at once. Choose a couple and then wait for two weeks before adding more. Do not overcrowd. 12.
