Using your note cards, read the definitions for the following words: transverse wave, wavelength, frequency, and amplitude. Fold this paper into eight sections and number the sections. Write your name in section 1. In section 2, using the ruler, draw a horizontal line in the middle of the box. This will be the rest position for your wave. Label it “rest”. Draw a transverse wave on the rest line. (Half should be above and half should be below.) Label the crests with a “C” and the troughs with a “T”. Measure the amplitude and wavelength in millimeters. Write it in the chart. Count the number of complete waves. Record it in the chart as the frequency. Create a new transverse wave in section 3 with a greater amplitude. Measure the new amplitude, wavelength, and frequency. Record it in your chart. Create a new transverse wave in section 4 with a smaller amplitude. Measure the new amplitude, wavelength, and frequency. Record it in your chart. Create a new transverse wave in section 5 with a shorter wavelength. Measure the new amplitude, wavelength, and frequency. Record it in your chart. Create a new transverse wave in section 6 with a longer wavelength.
