Welcome to the Arlington YMCA Woodmont Gymnastics Program! The following are some important Rules and Expectations for our classes. NOTE: Some updates are highlighted. Dropping off gymnasts/Before class Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class begins so gymnasts have time to prepare for class (e.g., using the bathroom, getting dressed, putting hair up, etc.) Gymnasts should put ALL their belongings in cubby holes provided in the back party room, NOT in the hallway. Gymnasts should wait in the back room until the class begins. Do NOT leave your child unattended. Picking up gymnasts All gymnasts must be picked up INSIDE the facility by an adult, regardless of age. If someone other than a parent/guardian is picking up a gymnast, please complete a permission slip. During class NO food or drinks in the gym, including gum or candy. Parents may NOT be in the gym or the hallway during class. You may stay in the back room or leave while your child is in class. Parents may stay and watch the LAST class of the session ONLY. Please refrain from talking to gymnasts, including giving directions or corrections. Missed classes There are NO make-ups for missed classes. This includes for scheduling conflicts, illness, etc. Proper attire Girls are required to wear a LEOTARD, UNITARD, or LEOTARD WITH BIKE SHORTS. Boys may wear bike/gym shorts and t-shirts. T-shirts must be long enough to stay tucked in or fitted so they stay down when gymnast is upside down. The following are NOT allowed because they may cause injury to the gymnast or the coaches. NO long pants NO socks or tights with feet NO buttons, zippers, or snaps NOTHING loose or hanging outside clothing such as skirts/skorts, strings, or belts Gymnasts must be potty-trained (NO diapers or pull-ups), except for Mom, Dad, & Me class. Hair Longer bangs and hair should be tied back. Hair must be done so that is does not interfere with the gymnast’s ability to see clearly at all times. We have rubber bands available to use if needed. There should be NO hard material (e.g., hard plastic, “jewels”, metal, etc.) on the hair ties or headbands. Extra hair ties may NOT be worn on wrists. Braids, pig tails, or low ponytails work best as they are more comfortable when doing forward and backward rolls. Jewelry Please leave ALL jewelry at home (e.g., rings, bracelets, necklaces, anklets, earrings, etc.), including non-metal jewelry such as friendship and rope bracelets and anklets. Gymnasts may wear post earrings or medical bracelets (covered with sport tape) ONLY. Behavior incidents We expect parents and gymnasts to be kind and courteous to each other and the coaches. Disrespectful behavior, such as hitting, pushing, spitting, or talking back, name-calling, or other inappropriate or unkind language, may result in time out or removal from class. Please feel free speak with any of the staff with questions or concerns. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding! The Arlington YMCA Woodmont Gymnastics Staff
