What is Harmony House?
Harmony House is a second-stage women's shelter.
We provide safe, affordable transitional housing for women and children who are survivors of violence.
Located in Ottawa, Harmony House is the only second-stage shelter in the city. Harmony House offers a
number of programs and services for residents and their children. Many of these programs and services
are also open to former residents.
What type of Race is the Human Race for Shelter?
The event is a relay race with teams of 5 who can either run or walk
What is the schedule?
4 - 5:30 p.m.
5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
7:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
8 - 8:30 p.m.
Race pick-up and late registration at Woody’s Pub 330 Elgin St.

Where is the event?
The event is conveniently located in downtown Ottawa on Elgin Street (at Minto Park, across from
Woody’s Pub 330 Elgin St. at Jack Purcell Way) home to many trendy restaurants, shops and clubs.
Where can I park my car?
Parking is available all around the designated race area, on side streets, parking lots and along Elgin Street
– outside of the road closure area.
Are there Bathroom/Shower facilities?
Yes! Jack Purcell Community Centre, 320 Jack Purcell Lane has generously offered their facilities for event
participants. There will also be a go-hut within Minto Park.
What kind of prizes will be offered?

 Best Team Costume
 Random draw for any team that has not already won an event, so that every team gets a chance to
win!
Top Individual Pledge
 Trip to Cancun for two (5 days, 4 nights – hotel and flight)
o All individuals that raise $1,500 or more will be entered in a draw to win
Top Individual Pledge
 McAuslan Montreal trip
o Train ride for two to Montreal
o One night stay in Queen Elizabeth Hotel
o Private Tour of brewery with sampling
Top Team Pledge
 McAuslan Keg party (at your location of choice)
o Two large kegs (180 pints) and Gift certificate - $200 food
Note: there are no restrictions on a person winning more than one prize
Can you tell me more about Pledges?
Participants have an option of raising money (outside of registration fees) by way of pledges.
