STUDENTS ATTEND GOVERNOR KASICH TOWN HALL
Six Elida High School students
attended the town hall meeting last
Friday, March 11, to hear Ohio
Governor/Presidential Candidate
John Kasich at Lima Pallet
Company. Students who have expressed interest in social science
subjects, particularly those involving
presidential politics were chosen to
attend and had an opportunity to
ask questions. This was a great first
hand experience for our students to
see in real time many of the aspects
of a presidential race contest that
are taught in the classroom.

STUDENTS RECOGNIZED FOR LEADERSHIP
Elida Seniors Emily Alderman and Keely Kipp received
recognition at the Ohio School Board Association
Northwest Region Spring Conference and were awarded for “Outstanding High School Leadership.” The two
created the “Elida Compliments” twitter page,
@complimentselida. They noticed that there was too
much negativity online, and wanted to make a page to
Pictured Lt. to Rt.
share compliments about Elida, and counter all the
Jamie L. Beamer, President, Northwest District Ohio negativity. Alderman’s mother challenged her daughter
School Board, Jennifer Treadway (mother) Elida
Senior Keely Kipp, Jerudd Treadway, (Step-father) to do something about it. As a result, she and Kipp
and Eric Germann, Ohio School Board President
created the page which generated immediate results,
(Not-pictured Emily Alderman, unable to attend)
and over 400 followers.
We’re proud of these students’ initiative and leadership.
Way to Go, Keely and Emily!
FOOD DONATIONS BEING COLLECTED
Emily Alderman

For the month of March Sarah Carpenter, Athletic Trainer for Elida High School is
asking for food donations in the form of non-perishable items that will be donated
to a local shelter or food pantry in the Lima area. If Sarah has helped you in
anyway or you simply just want to donate for a good cause please bring your
items to the Athletic Office or Sarah's High School Training Room by March 31st.
The goal: 100 pounds of food
We can do it!
Thank you for your support!"

It’s heartwarming and such an honor.”
