ou can earn up to one third of your
sentence off for good behaviour.
Correctional Centre staff will
calculate your time-expiry date for
you.

‚ You are responsible for keeping your
living area clean.
‚ You must attend any programs that are
required by the Judge or Correctional
Centre staff.
‚ You must call the Correctional Centre
Supervisor at 368-5844 before you come
in if:
- you can’t do time with a certain
person;
- are going to be late showing up;
- you need to bring in books to study
for a University or College course;
- if you have any other concerns.

Guidelines for
Serving Weekend
and Intermittent
Sentences at The
Provincial
Correctional
Centre
You have been sentenced to serve a
weekend or intermittent sentence at
the Provincial Correctional Centre.
This brochure will give you the
information you will need.
Y
ou must show up at the Correctional
Centre at the times and dates the
Judge has listed on your warrant.
‚ If you do not show up on time, you will
be considered to be Unlawfully at Large
and will be charged by the police. If you
are found guilty, you not only have to
serve your sentence, you have to make-up
the days you missed.
‚ You cannot get permission from the
Correctional Centre to take time off from
your sentence to attend a special event or
to miss a period of your sentence. ONLY
A JUDGE can give you that permission.
‚ You are responsible for your own
transportation to and from the
Correctional Centre to serve your
sentence. If you cannot make it because
of storm or road conditions, or other
reason, you will still be considered to be
Unlawfully at Large and charged . It is up
to the police and Crown Attorney to drop
the charges if there is a good reason.
Arriving at the Correctional Centre
he Provincial Correctional Centre is
tobacco free. There is no smoking
allowed anywhere on the property. Do
not bring any smoking materials with
you.

‚ You will be strip-searched when you
arrive at the Correctional Centre. The
strip-search will be done by a Correctional
Officer who is the same sex as you in a
private area of the Centre.
‚ You are not permitted to be under the
influence of alcohol or drugs, or smell of
alcohol when you arrive, and can be
charged with another criminal offence.
‚ You will be given clothing, bedding and
toiletries (soap, toothpaste, etc) to use
when you are here.
‚ Your valuables (watch, wallet, cell phone,
etc.) will be locked away for safe-keeping
and returned to you when you leave.
‚ You may not bring personal books or
magazines with you, but educational
books may be approved by management.
‚ You will not be allowed to have visitors
or telephone calls during your weekend or
intermittent sentence, but you will be able
to use a telephone to call for your ride or
taxi when you leave.
Medical Needs While You are
Serving Your Sentence.
f you are on medication, or have a health
problem, contact the Correctional Centre
nurse at 368-5861, immediately after you
are sentenced. The sooner you contact the
nurse, the better... so arrangements can be
made to assist you with any medical issues.

‚ Bring your Health Card with you.
‚ If you are a Diabetic, bring your blood
glucose testing kit and your insulin.
‚ Do not bring in any other home
medications.
‚ Before you arrive, call the nurse to give
her a list of your home medications, your
doctor’s name and your pharmacy’s name.
The nurse will get in touch with the
Correctional Centre doctor and have your
medications ready for you when you
arrive.
‚ Once you have been admitted by a
Correctional Officer, you will be seen by
the nurse. It is important that you give the
nurse all your important medical
information.
