Minutes of the 100th LIU-SPS Coordination Meeting 22/02/2017 List of attendees: B. Goddard, E. Shaposhnikova, V. Kain, P. Cruikshank, E. Montesinos, S.Prodon, D. Mcfarlane, M. Taborelli, E. Carlier. Excused: W. Hofle, K. Li. Bren welcomed everyone to the 100th LIU-SPS coordination meeting and congratulated those present for reaching the milestone of 3 digits relatively unscathed. Matters arising: Actions: - Date for PS-SPS transfer mitigation strategy review: Oct-Nov sometime, still pending. - Identification of coated magnets and chambers. Paul reports that VSC and MSC will use standard bar-coding and the Norma database for this. - What to do with damping resistors: Elena clarifies that default is not to install a damping resistor. Paul will update the FS with Brennan (action Paul). - Deadline for design choice for production of the QF. Paul says a design would need to be available and selected by June. We will accordingly organise a review late May (action Brennan/Kevin). Milestones: PPS/ecloud - End June for ECR for YETS QF impedance shielding. - End May for design review of shielding options? - April for postmortem on EYETS deployment. Know already we need to build new dedicated pumping groups, some review project scope, in light of experience gained. LSS5 dump - Send out contract for tunnel enlargement. - FC in December. - MS in March/April, IT in June/July. - Production readiness review, September, to finalise TIDVG5 design. Question of spares and strategy. - Design review, June. To validate performance of vertical kicker system ready for production. - MS to launch in March for RG220, IT in May, contract August? Depends on length of YETS. - Now. Freeze layout for LSS5 (vacuum and BI etc.). - End April. Official approval for impedance aspects for final LSS5/LSS1 layout. - June, decide of injection interlocking and BIS. Protection devices - March FC approval for TCDI. - End 2017 for first prototype TCDI. - May, HiRadMat test for TCDI material. - July, finalise TPSG4/6 designs. - Now, send out TED FS. PS-SPS transfer losses - October 2017, Q22 high intensity beam. - Summer, Q22 matching extraction, TLs. - October, conceptual review, SPS collimation study. - November, review and recommenced the strategy. Operation - June, review the restart plans in the light of the 2017 restart. Longitudinal beam dynamics - April: review and approve 200 MHz HOMs transverse impedance effects. - March, FS for SPS VVs to present to IEFC. Implications for VSC also! - End 2017, results of slip stacking simulations with intensity effects in SPS. Instrumentation - End September, operational BGI and BSRT. WBFB system - End 2017. 200 MHz - End 2017, BAF3 infrastructure completed. - May, demo version 2 validated (some mods to transistor fixing to board). - End 2018, first batch of 16 towers delivered, installed, tested and validated. - End April, high power cavity combiner to be validated, launch production of 2 units if OK. - End 2017, all orders placed via MME. - September, 4 protype power couplers on the proto cavity in BAF3. - End 2017 power 1 cavity to full power. - June, one 3 section cavity under vacuum in BAF3. - December, latest deadline for HOMs impedance reduction specification. - September, full LSS3 sequence done for the installation. - End of 2017, all ECRs. EVM (Sylvie) - New baseline is now active - will avoid continual rebaseling in future - Need reporting for each council meeting (March, June, September, December). - Brennan encouraged all WP holders to really use EVM as intended, more and more important for tracking. Planning - End summer, first iteration on detailed overall planning including all works. - End of 2017, all ECRs!! Planning status and outlook (David): - YETS duration under discussion. Currently OP asking for shorter intervention time and more commissioning. - LS2, real time available for the machines has been defined and sent around in EDMS (number to add). - First beam in SPS is in 2021. - Actual shutdown access is mid-Jan 2019, until mid-September 2020. 20 months including Christmas. - Details to be fully worked out before end 2017, but crucial to have all the input from OP also for all the interfaces for the controls tests etc. Need to plan dry runs and OP tests explicitly. - LSS2 recabling....still not decided! - 2 months early 2021 to give beam to LHC. Will be very tight. - Passage through LSS5 will be blocked throughout LS2. Planning of impedance reducton/aC coating juggled accordingly.
