Vocabulary
base – the big number that is used as the factor
Example: In 23, 2 is the base.
exponent – the small number (power) that tells us how many times to multiply
the base by itself.
Example: In 23, 3 is the exponent.
exponential form – a number shown by using a base and an exponent
Example: 23
factor form – a number shown in a multiplication sentence
Example: The factor form of 23, is 2

standard form – the answer (the regular way to write a number)
Example: The standard form of 23 is 8.
squared – the base to the second power
Example: 52 can be read 5 squared
cubed – the base to the third power
Example: 23 can be read 2 cubed
