Mixtures
Homogenous
Heterogenous
Mixtures -2 or more pure substances mixed,
but not chemically combined.
* Substances can be in any amount
* Can be seperated by physical means
ex: raisins in raisin bran
TWO KINDS OF MIXTURES:
Heterogeneous Mixture: Mixture that doesn't
appear to be the same throughout
ex: sand in water
Homogeneous Mixture: appears to be the
same throughout
ex: homogenized milk
Colloid: Homogeneous mixture, the
parts aren't dissolved, remain suspended,
beam of light seen as it shines through it
(cloudy) ex: mayonnaise, fog
Solution: Homogeneous mixture in a
single physical state (dissolved)
ex: tea (liquid)
alloy: solution of metals (solid)
Stainless steel = Iron + Chromium

What is SOLUBILITY?
SOLUBILITY IS
The maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved in an given amount of solvent at a given temperature.
THINK!
