Whilst some students get very concerned about ‘tests’ it is something that we need to reassure them is a posi1ve way of working out what is known and what needs to be known. Last week our students were involved in an ‘equa1ng’ study which is a prac1ce run that students have in one element of NAPLAN before the assessment this week. Whilst the informa1on collated was obviously useful for the NAPLAN organisers, it was very helpful for us from an organisa1onal point of view. NAPLAN is an unknown quan1ty for year 3 students so they were able to get some good prac1ce in before the actual event. We learned that they needed more working space than we allowed in the equa1ng test. We also learned that 45 minutes is a long 1me to be si<ng down without being able to move or talk!!!!! Hopefully our students benefi>ed from the early opportunity to have a go at the format that was used this week and that no one has been too stressed throughout this assessment period. TOMORROW WE are having a guest speaker coming to school to talk about road safety. Simone Power has run talks at a number of schools designed to raise awareness in students about being safe on the roads. She is the vic1m of a road accident herself which is why she feels it is important to pass the message along. She charges a nominal fee (which the school is paying) and will run two sessions , one with F-2 and one with 3-6. Given that we have had some trouble with students using the road correctly, we thought it a 1mely reminder about safety! SCHOOL INTERVIEWS ONLINE for the student conferences in the last week of this term are now OPEN. Website is www.schoolinterviews.com.au and the code is 68gv7. REMINDER that if you have a child in Paul Moon’s grade, the interviews will be held in Term 3. CHECK OUT the great senses poem wri>en by 3/4P – terrific!!! Have a good weekend folks! The children are making a food pyramid displaying all the healthy foods that we should be eating. The children have also participated in a food experiment of why it is important to wash your hands. We have a child who washed their hands, and a child who didn’t wash their hands then touch bread. We wonder what’s going to happen… Week 6, Term 2 In this week we are going to looking at Insects! We will look at different life cycles for different insects, and make our very own insects! And of course you can’t have an insect week without watching A Bugs Life! Quick note from Brodie My apologies for the absent of the OSHC newsletter for the past couple of weeks, we’ve had some technical issues. We have also started to take more photos of what the children are doing in OSHC and the children are writing about the photo. Please come in to see the beautiful photos and what the children have been up to! IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS: If your child sometimes forgets to come to after school care, or if you’re worried that they might forget, I have created a bag tag which can be popped onto the child’s bag in the morning on the day that they are going to after school. If you would like one, please come and see Brodie in the after school care room. We’re here to make after school care visits the best experience possible – for you and your child. If you have any questions about the program – please feel free to drop by, meet the team and see what happens in after school care first hand. We look forward to seeing you soon.
