GROUP EXERCISE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Fitness
Ab Lab
Tone your abs! This 30-minute workout focuses on strengthening your core (abs and lower back). This class progresses throughout the quarter, beginning with ab exercises on the floor and advancing to ab exercises on stability
balls. There is no aerobic component.
'ABS'olute Conditioning
Get a whole body workout with an emphasis on abdominal training. This class incorporates a balanced series of
strengthening exercises for the major muscle group using resistance bands. There is no aerobic component.
Boot Camp
With an emphasis on sports conditioning, this class will focus on speed, strength, agility and quickness through
sprints, core training and resistance work. Weather permitting, this class will meet on the FieldTurf; otherwise it will
take place inside.
Cardio Combo
Cardio Combo is the best of Step and Kickboxing! Mondays will consist of Step aerobics, including traditional step
patterns and choreography. Wednesdays are for Kickboxing, a non-contact kickboxing class utilizing basic kicks and
punches. Core work and stretching are added to the end of the workouts on both days.
Cardio Dance
An upbeat, high energy dance class that combines elements of cardio with different dance styles including jazz, hip
hop and salsa. Improve your dance ability while getting a great cardio workout. Come ready to sweat and get your
groove on!
Cardio Funk
A hip-hop dance infused cardiovascular workout that combines dance moves with core conditioning and popular club
music, suitable for all fitness levels and dance abilities. Come shake it, move it, groove it, let loose and have fun—
because a workout doesn’t have to be all work and no play.
Cardio Kickboxing
This is a non-contact kickboxing class utilizing basic kicks and punches. Designed as a total body workout, this class
will make you sweat! Resistance training, abdominal work and stretching are added to the end of the workout.
Circuit Training
A mix of cardio and strength training. Students will be led through a variety of exercises designed to increase the
heart rate and strengthen the muscles. The perfect workout for those who want a balance between weights and cardio.
High / Low Aerobics
This class is for the aerobics purist. Enjoy a low- or high-impact workout as you move across the floor. Classes include some resistance training, abdominal work and stretching.
H.I.T. (High Intensity Training) (INT)
This class focuses on interval training by incorporating high intensity, high impact moves. This fast-paced workout is
geared for the Intermediate level group exercise student. It will increase your heart rate through a mix of group exercise and sport training moves. Students must be able to properly execute squats, lunges and plyometrics. Be ready to
work hard, sweat hard and lean out! (Note: This class is NOT recommended if you have any joint problems.)

Latin Dance Aerobics
A cardio workout with a Latin flair. Get a hot and fun-filled workout while learning Latin dance basics such as
salsa, mambo and cha cha. No dance experience necessary; for all levels.
Pilates Mat
Learn the Pilates method, a total body conditioning workout requiring concentration and precision of movement.
Designed to improve your muscle tone, strength, flexibility and posture, focus is place on muscular harmony and
balance. Classes progress throughout the quarter.
Total Toning
This 45-minute class with strengthen and tone your muscles from head to toe. Classes will include a warm-up
segment, muscle-specific exercises, abdominal work and stretching. Equipment used includes dumbbells, body
bars and resistance bands. There is no aerobic component.
Indoor Cycling
An intense stationary bike workout that simulates an actual outdoor bike ride. Through tension adjustments and pedaling
technique, you will encounter straight-aways, steep hills and rolling terrains that correspond to the difficulty of the perceived
ride. This class will make you sweat! Bring a water bottle and towel. All fitness levels welcome.
Hip Hop Dance
A high energy street/funk class that teaches the most current styles of west coast hip hop. The class includes a thorough
warm-up, strength elements, hip hop progressions, and a new routine taught each week. The music is fresh, the pace is fast,
and the style is hot - this is not your grandparent’s dance class.

A new category of exercise for athletes of all abilities that leverages your own bodyweight with gravity to simultaneously
develop strength, balance, flexibility and joint stability. Suspension Training allows for the use of multiple planes of motion
while working multiple muscles and joints. During this workout you will perform upper and lower body exercises while
activating your core, ensuring an effective, total body workout in each class with no chance of boredom. Rated as the Best
New Fitness Gear by Men’s Health Magazine. Used by New Orleans Saints quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees.

Beginning Weight Training (BEG)
This beginning class provides basic information about weight training including a balanced program of exercises using
single-station machines and some free weights. Classes emphasize using proper exercise techniques and effective training
methods. Workouts will be designed to meet your personal goals.
