About Our School
Our small learning communities help foster a collaborative environment of strong
family culture and mutual respect. The distinct bond between adults and children
promotes both intellectual and psychological growth in our students. Through an open
door policy we foster open lines of communication and build successful relationships
with parents, encouraging them to be equal partners in the education of their
children. We are a NASA Explorer School; our students perform in-depth
investigations, using resources made available to us by NASA, to explore
environmental changes that have occurred in Astoria over the years. We are involved
in many community drives and have raised donations for Winter Wishes, Pennies for
Patients, and City Harvest. We are the Magnet School for Mathematics, Technology,
and Environmental Engineering. We use technology to transform teaching and
learning. Our students use SMART Boards, SMART Response clickers, laptop carts, iPad
carts, and document projectors. We also use Achieve3000, Rosetta Stone, BrainPOP,
and more.
