Ray’s Legacy is a monetary award to a member of the senior class who has
exemplified the courage, dedication, strength of character, and tenacity of
alumni Raymond A. Cantey, Jr. Ray was diagnosed with cancer in his sophomore
year, and even after this cancer resulted in the amputation of his leg, he
continued to come to school, with a smile on his face. He was most proud of his
Eli Whitney diploma. He lost his battle at age 21, but before he left our lives, he
indicated that he wanted to leave a legacy. This award is “Ray’s Legacy.”
Anyone can be a part of Ray’s Legacy. It is easy. Just write check or bring cash to the
Eli Whitney Business Office and let someone know that you want to contribute. Any
amount is fine! Every penny counts. You will be asked to complete a simple donation
form. If writing a check, make the check out to Eli Whitney Technical High School with
a note: “Ray’s Legacy.” Keep Ray’s memory alive and help make his dream to leave a
legacy come true!
