families that we have learned on a journal.

Printing

Practice printing lower and upper case letters within
the lines. (letter formation)
Word Work/ Journal writing
Practice writing the word family words and the sight
words. Practice writing basic sentences. For example;
The cat sat on the mat.
It is recommended to have a home journal
for printing / writing practice. It is
important to encourage your child to write
phonetically by sounding out the words.
Mistakes don’t matter. We want to foster
independent writing skills. They can use the
sight word list as we have learned these
words in class when writing.
Don’t forget to use finger spaces between the words.
This is how a good sentence should look like:
“I - like- to- eat- cereal- in – the - morning.”

Upper case letter at the beginning of the sentence.
The lines between the words mean a space must follow each
word.
A period placed at the end of the sentence.

Mensaje de la profesora /
Message from the teacher
Toy Policy: Please keep all toys at home because they can bring
distraction. We do not want them to be lost, wrecked, or taken away
therefore we ask that you encourage your child to leave toys at home.
Lunch: Please remind your child that lunch time in the gym is the time
they have to eat their lunch. Chatting and playing around with their
food and friends will prevent them from finishing their lunch.
We will be posting items to our Teacher’s Blog classroom website, to
which all parents have access. It will be part of the bi-weekly menu,
it is a suggestion for all parents as a way to provide extra practice
at home in these areas.
Learning Commons (Library) Expectations
Students will take out books from the library and use them
for our Daily 5 reading program in class.
PLEASE VISIT THE PUBLIC LIBRARY WITH
YOUR CHILD.
Reading stories Aloud and together fosters a long
