Materials List:
1. Data Card Reader (CF)
-Some computers are equipped with internal card readers.
-An external card reader can be purchased at an electronics store.
Example: Kodak 72-IN-1 Card Reader plugs into your USB drive.
2. Computer with Internet Access
3. John Deere GS2 2600 Display complete with Data Card
Removing/Inserting the Data Card from the Display (copied from Owners Manual):
IMPORTANT: Do not remove 12 volt power from display until
the LED light is black. Prematurely removing power (green or
orange light status) may cause loss of data and/or the display to
lose functionality. It may take up to 20 seconds after removing key
power for the LED light to completely go black. The data card
should not be removed during this period also.
IMPORTANT: Data card must be in display during operation or
system functionality will deteriorate.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove data card while display is
reprogramming. Doing so can damage display and put software
in an irrecoverable state. Any time machine configuration changes
are made, the power must be cycled on the display to allow
changes to take place.
After configuring machine and implement setup, make sure key
power is turned off and LED light is able to go to black before
operating in the field. This will allow all setup information to be saved to the data card.
Steps for Data Card Removal
A—Data card
1. Open the card slot door.
2. Wait for message stating that Data Card can be
ejected.
3. Press the eject button located directly below the card
slot inside the card slot door. This is very similar to
removing a PCMCIA card from a Mobile Processor.
4. The data card will pop out enough to grab it with your
fingers and remove it from the card slot.
Steps for Data Card Insertion
1. Open the card slot door by pressing forward on the
door latch tab, and continue to press forward until the
door springs open.
2. Wait for message stating that Data Card can be
ejected.
3. The side of the data card that has the ridge along the
bottom edge should be facing the operator as it is
inserted.
It cannot be inserted with the opposite side facing the
operator.
4. Press the data card into the slot until it clicks into
place and pushes the eject button all the way out. It has a
similar feel to inserting a PCMCIA card into a Mobile
Processor.
5. Close the card slot door.
Saving a Backup & Formatting the Card:
1. Begin by inserting the Data Card into the Card Reader. The Card Reader will likely open automatically on your
PC.
If not, select Start>Computer and the removable storage device that represents the data card (example drive (I).)
2. Double click on the icon to open the folder. Once opened, select the RCD folder and drag it to your desktop.
This folder contains all of the information that you saved on your display including AB lines, farm & field names,
yield data and so on.
3. Once a backup is saved, hit the back button on the top left of the popup screen to take you to the previous window
displaying the disk drives. If you are lost simply close the popup window and select Start>Computer.
4. Format the card. This is done by right clicking on the desired driver and selecting ―format.‖ Select Start.
Formatting the card will take less than 30 seconds on average. ONLY format the removable storage device that
represents your data card. Do not format a hard drive.

software to the card.
