GENERAL INFO
Welcome to Kuala Lumpur! This information note aims to provide logistical and
administrative guidance to conference participants on the arrangements for the Third Joint
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) – World Customs Organization (WCO)
Conference on Enhancing Air Cargo Security and Facilitation which will be held in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia. This event is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia and
Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

2. Conference Programme
Registration will start at 10.00am until 7.00pm on Monday, 25 July 2016 (a day before
conference) at the hotel lobby. Upon producing confirmation slip, participant will receive ID
badge and conference kit. For security purposes, participants are required to wear the ID
badge at all times during the conference.
The tentative programme for the conference is as follows and subject to change from time to
time. Final programme activities will be advised during the conference day.

3. Entry Requirements
All international delegates entering Malaysia are required to posses a valid national passport
or internationally recognised Travel Document recognised by the Malaysian Government.
The documents must be valid for more than six (6) months from the date of entry.
Participants are also requested to obtain the appropiate entry visa and any necessary transit
visa prior to their departure at their own expenses. In addition to visa, Yellow Fever
certificate is also required to be produced upon landing in Malaysia for citizens of certain
listed countries. For more information on entry requirements, please visit the official website

4. Arrivals
Upon arrival at KLIA, participants who are staying at the venue hotel (Sama-Sama Hotel) or
those arrived on the conference day will be met by secretariats at the International Arrivals
gate with a calling sign “ICAO-WCO ACSF2016”.
From the International Arrivals (Level 3), look out for the
elevator or escalator to go down to Level 2 where there
will be signs leading towards the Sama-Sama Hotel. A
complimentary 2-minute buggy service is provided to and
from the airport every 5 minutes. If the buggy service is
absent, kindly use the intercom on the billboard to ask for
assistance or take a five-minute walk via the skybridge at
Level 2 to the hotel. The buggy service is available 24hours every day.

5. Accommodation
The official accommodation is Sama-Sama Hotel where the conference will be held. This
award-winning five-star airport hotel has 442 guestrooms and suites, equipped with every
modern amenity.
Participants are requested to arrange their reservations and payment directly to the hotel. It is
advisable that participants book their accommodation as soon as possible to avoid any

6. Transport
A complimentary 24/7 buggy service is available between KLIA and Sama-Sama Hotel (See:
Arrivals). However, participants who are staying other than Sama-Sama Hotel are advised to
make their own transport arrangements between the airport, accommodation and the
conference venue.
The distance between Kuala Lumpur city center to the conference venue is
about 60 kilometer. The quickest way is by using the KLIA Express – a
light transit train that takes you from KLIA to KL Sentral (and vice versa)
in 28 minutes. For complete fares and schedule please refer to

Other option is by using the taxi service ranging from the regular taxi to airport limousine or
executive taxi.

7. Time Zone
Malaysia operates on Malaysian Standard Time covering all states in Malaysia which is
GMT+ 8 hours. The local dial codes is +60.
8. Insurance and Medical
No insurance coverage with respect to person or property is provided or implied by the
Malaysian Government with regards to the conference. Participants are advised to make their
own necessary medical and/or travel insurance arrangements. However, first aid and
emergency medical team is availabl at the venue throughout the conference.
9. Currency
The currency of Malaysia is in Ringgit Malaysia with the symbol of ‘RM’. The banknotes are
in denominations of RM1, RM5, RM10, RM20, RM50 and RM100 while coins are in 5, 10,
20 and 50 sen.
Currency exchange facilities are available at airports, banks and major hotels. Credit cards
especially Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted by most outlets.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Malaysia is fixed at 6%. Some restaurants may imposed
10% service charge into the bill. Tipping in Malaysia is not customary and not expected.
10. Weather and Climate
Kuala Lumpur’s climate stays hot and humid throughout the year. The average temperature in
July is about 32°C/90°F during daytime and 23°C/73°F at night. Occasional rainfall and
thunderstorms is expected to happen in the late evenings.

11. Electricity
Electricity supply in Malaysia is 220/240 volts AC with frequency of 50 Hertz. The
standard electrical socket is 3-pin ‘Type G’ plug.
