Next week we have our Father’s Day Breakfast, which
includes our dads hearing from racing car driver Steven
Richards, then being involved in an activity with their
children in their classroom. At recess dads will make
their way back to the gym for a light breakfast and raffle draw. This
is always a special day in the Oatlands year, as it gives our busy
working dads a chance to spend some school time with their
children.
Grandparents’ Day – Wednesday August 31st
Our Grandparents’ Day is coming up next Wednesday from 2:303:30pm. This will be a great opportunity for Grandparents to take
part in classroom activities with their grandchildren
and have a look around our school. Our Please let
our Grandparents know so they can put this date
aside.
Leap into Learning – Information Sessions
Our Kinder to Prep transition program Leap into Learning starts on
Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th of Thursday 8th September. The
sessions are for one hour and during your first session there will be
an information session for parents in our staff room for the hour
while your child is in the Leap into Learning program.
NAPLAN
On Friday 26st August, the students in Grade 3 and 5 will receive
their NAPLAN results. This is one set of testing at one point of
time and needs to be viewed in conjunction with the broad range of
assessment undertaken by the classroom teachers throughout the
year.
Child Safety
At Oatlands Primary School we are very proud of the very safe and
supportive environment which is evident across our school. The
Victorian Regulations and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) now
requires all schools to meet new child safe standards. Oatlands
Primary School already had many of these requirements in place
and a number of new policies and relevant documents relating to
child safety have been developed and will go to School Council. If
any parent would like further information on what is involved I
suggest they look at the following website

Pre-loved uniforms are available from the office for a
donation of $2 per item.
PARKING:
No parents should be entering the staff
car park to drop off or collect their
children from school. Moving cars
and excited children are a recipe for
disaster.

office each Monday and will be
returned to the classroom the
following Tuesday.
Medications
Please note: A Department of Education form
states ‘wherever possible medication should be
scheduled outside of school hours eg:
medication required 3 times per day is
generally not required during a school day: it
can be taken before and after school and before
bed’.
So it is preferred that students do not bring
medications to school.
Safety in Car Parks
Our community is reminded to
take extreme care with driving and parking in and
around the school car parks. Drivers are asked to
drive at a walking pace, respect and co-operate with
other drivers at all times, ensuring that students are
only dropped off in safe areas and not within
carriageways. Drivers be respectful of local resident
driveway access to their
homes. Please ensure that
you are parking in the
designated parking zones.
REMINDER FOR ALL FAMILIES
Unless you have business with our
administration staff of a morning or
afternoon, it is preferred that families not
use our school reception entrance as a
regular entrance and exit point.
Please drop off and pick up your children via the
external classroom doors.

EDWIN FLACK DISTRICT ATHLETICS
On Tuesday 18 of August 60 of our students represented Oatlands at the Edwin Flack District Athletics that were
held at Casey Fields Athletics Track. We were extremely lucky with the weather and we had a sensational day and
once again our students were outstanding. After many weeks of training, each and every one of our competitors
excelled in their particular event and displayed exemplary sportsmanship and respect for all other competitors
Congratulations to all of our Athletes. As a result of these trials we now have approximately 25 students who will go on
to represent Oatlands and Edwin Flack District at The Casey North Division Athletics Championships to be held at

Casey Fields on Wednesday 14 of September. We wish these students the best of luck and look forward to hearing
the results.

DAD’S BREAKFAST MEETING
Tuesday 30th August 2016
Our 2016 Dad’s Breakfast Meeting will be held on Tuesday 30th August 2016. The morning will commence
at 9:00am and conclude at 11:15am (approx).
It is anticipated on the day that all Dads will bring their children to the classroom and then just after
9:00am proceed to the gym and listen to racing car driver Steven Richards.
Following Steven’s address and prior to recess time there will be a short time for Dads to return to their
children’s classroom and assist them with a project.
At recess all Dads are invited to return to the gym for morning tea/breakfast.
We hope all Dads are able to attend this day as our breakfast meeting last year was an outstanding
success. For many Dads this day may provide a rare opportunity for them to bring their children to school
and participate during their learning time.
Some Dads may need to organise or plan an RDO with their employer.
In order to cater for morning tea/breakfast please complete the slip below and return to school ASAP
(only once please).
