Spanish 2 Honors – Profesor Lopez
Disclosure - School Year 2016-2017
Learning another language opens up endless opportunities and cultures. I love to teach Spanish and if you are
willing, we will have fun this year and you’ll speak, read and write Spanish at an unexpected level.
Classroom Rules:
1. Be in class, be on time!! This is not a regular class where you can miss and make it up with a few
assignments. If you miss class or assignments, because of tardiness or absences, you will fall behind.
2. Everyone must participate, no matter how goofy it may seem!
3. Everyone must be positive and show respect for all classmates including the teacher.
4. Follow school policy and consequences outlined in the student handbook. Including, but not limited to,
dress code, language, attendance, make-up work, and cheating.
Expectations:
1. Have a neat, well-organized, 3-ring binder (1”) with 5 divider tabs, a pencil, and extra writing paper. You can store
them in the classroom, but I am not responsible for items left in the classroom that may get lost.
2. Participate fully in class, ask questions when necessary, and have fun!
3. Homework will be completed on time. Find it online on Canvas at www.Tooeleschools.instructure.com and
www.pearsonsuccessnet.com & other sites, handouts, projects, etc.
4. Profe. Lopez’s website is the best resource for homework links, vocabulary lists, make-up, learning, etc. It can be
accessed at: www.LopezClasses.com
5. Throughout the year, I will send reminders for classroom tests and assignments through texting and/or email. I have
attached a page explaining how to register for remind.com. It’s voluntary, but if you don’t sign up for it, you won’t get
reminders, like your classmates. Parents can sign up for the reminders also.
6. Students will use computers in class and may do learning on the internet and they will be required to follow school
policy when using computers. See list on back of disclosure for videos that may be seen this year.
Grading:
Assignments: 40% (along with other assignments, your binder will be evaluated)
Quizzes/Tests/Projects: 40% (all quizzes will be unannounced; you will be given advanced notice for midterm and final
exams.) Quizzes can be retaken on days announced by teacher, but tests cannot be retaken. Quizzes must be taken and/or
re-taken within one week of original quiz date. Projects will have due dates and will not be accepted late, except for
acceptable excused absences. (See student handbook)
Speaking Points: 20% Students will receive 25 points a day. If they speak English when they should’ve used Spanish or
they aren’t speaking when they should be practicing Spanish, they will lose that day’s points.
Honors Credit: You will be required to do an honors project every term, which will be included in the Quizzes portion of
your grade. Also, expectations on Quizzes, Tests, and Assignments will be slightly higher.
Makeup Policy: See school policy for makeup of homework and in-class assignments.

Occasionally, students in the class may correct and/or revise the work of other students. This may include classroom
quizzes. This is a requirement, because of the nature of the course. They may also be required to create videos,
podcasts, posters, and recordings that will be seen and heard by other students for peer review. I also occasionally have
my TA’s correct quizzes, binders, and parts of tests when appropriate.
I have read, understand, and agree with the information contained in this Spanish course disclosure.
