Here Comes the Bride…
We’ve been honored to have two residents recently find
love at Willowbend at Marion Nursing and Rehabilitation. It
was a joyful day as residents, Mr. Bowien and Ms. Kilp, joined
their lives together during a beautiful wedding ceremony in
Willowbend’s courtyard.
The magical occasion
was shared with friends
and family. Following
the ceremony, the
happy couple was
serenaded by “Elvis”
and refreshments were
shared with everyone,
including staff and
residents. We wish the
best of luck to the
happy newlyweds!
Alzheimer’s Walk
Success!
The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End
Alzheimer's® is the world's largest event
to raise awareness and funds for
Alzheimer's care, support, and
research. Held annually in more than
600 communities nationwide and 9
locations in our region, this inspiring
event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to
reclaim the future for millions.
We are proud to report that Willowbend Nursing and
Rehabilitation was a major contributor and supporter
of the local Walk held last month in Jonesboro. A
HUGE thank you goes out to all of our staff and
residents who made it such a success!

Halloween Holiday Trivia
•
•
•
•
•
Orange and black are Halloween colors because orange is associated with the Fall harvest
and black is associated with darkness and death.
Jack o’ Lanterns originated in Ireland where people placed candles in hollowed-out turnips to
keep away spirits and ghosts on the Samhain holiday.
Pumpkins also come in white, blue and green. Great for
unique monster carvings!
Halloween was brought to North America by immigrants
from Europe who would celebrate the harvest around a
bonfire, share ghost stories, sing, dance and tell
fortunes.
Tootsie Rolls were the first wrapped penny candy in
America.

Halloween candy sales
average about 2 billion
dollars annually in the
United States.
Chocolate candy bars top
the list as the most
popular candy for trick-ortreaters with Snickers #1.
Halloween is the 2nd most
commercially successful
holiday, with Christmas
being the first.
