Accelerated Reader Program: The program promotes independent reading from a specific list of books
that are age appropriate from kindergarten through 5th grade. After the student finishes the books,
they take a short quick on the computer to earn points. Prizes are awarded when a student reaches
their point goal. Volunteers are needed to help with the list of books and the “Prize Store”, or other
incentive program for the children.

Boxed School Supplies: The PTO sells pre-packaged school supplies at the end of the school year for
the upcoming school year. Volunteers will assist in advertising the sale, preparing and placing the order
with our vendor in May and sorting and distributing the school supplies before Meet the Teacher Night
in August.

Buzz Book: This committee is responsible for taking orders, assembling and distributing our annual
school directory.

This committee will also be called on for special events that arise during the school year.

School Appearance: This committee is responsible for mulching, planting and keeping flower pots
updated at the entrance to the school.

School Website: This committee is responsible for making sure that all current PTO information is
reflected on the school website including PTO Press, PTO Meeting Minutes, and any forms related to
events that are happening at school.

Staff Appreciation: This committee will show support for staff during such days as, Secretary’s Day,
Custodian’s Day, Principal’s Day, Librarian’s Day, Nurse’s Day and any other such events that would honor
someone at our school. This committee will also organize the events for Teacher Appreciation Week in
May. This committee will also be responsible for maintaining the coffee/sugar/creamer in the lounge for
all staff members.

Welcome Committee: This committee is responsible for organizing “Back to School Night” , “Popscicles
on the Playground” for new families, Kindergarten Registration, Parking Spot Raffle, and welcoming new

Yearbook Committee: Work with Ridge Meadows Teachers to create school yearbook. Duties include

Ongoing Fundraisers Throughout the School Year:
Box Tops & Campbell Soup Labels: Volunteers are needed to organize the collection of General Mills box
tops and Campbell Soup product labels. The Box Tops generates cash for the PTO while the Campbell
Soup products generate points used towards purchase of educational products for the school.

Restaurant Fundraisers: Work with local restaurants/businesses (i.e. Chick-fil-a, California Pizza
Company, McAlisters, etc.) to arrange date/time of school fundraisers. Includes publicizing event with
Ridge Meadows Families.

SCRIP/E Scrip Program: This committee will sell gift cards for local stores during the Holiday season
and other times throughout the year with a percentage of the total amount of the gift card sold given
back to Ridge Meadows as a rebate. They will also be responsible for distributing all the E Scrip cards
for the Schnucks grocery card program.

books to students and collects orders.

Fall Fundraiser (Innisbrook): Organize the selling of wrapping paper and products from Innisbrook

Pancake Dinner: A family winter fundraiser. Pancakes, sausage and juice provided by Chris Cakes. Ridge
Meadows’ families are invited to come for a pancake dinner.

Rock’n Road Runner Carnival: The committee will organize and execute a fall carnival including auction
donation solicitations, silent auction organization, games, rides, prizes, food and bake sale.

Trivia Night: A fun filled adult evening for Ridge Meadows families, friends and staff. Volunteers will

Benefit School Walk/Run: This committee will organize a school-wide walk/run to benefit “Friends of
Wings” Pediatric Hospice Care Program. Money raised will be donated to Friends of Wings on behalf of
Ridge Meadows School.

Kindergarten Completion: Volunteers are needed to decorate the gym and serve refreshments after the
Kindergarten Completion Ceremony. This committee should not consist of Kindergarten parents, as they
will want to be a part of the ceremony with their child.

Room Parties (Fall/Spring): Coordinates and plans grade level fall and spring class parties.

Trunk or Treat: Volunteers are needed to assist in organizing this fall event. This is a family oriented
gathering. Volunteers will advertise, organize and process registration forms.

Spring Fling/Movie Night: Volunteers are needed to assist in organizing our year-end picnic and movie
night. This is a family oriented gathering .Volunteers will assist in coordinating the movie aspects, help

Variety Show: The show is tentatively scheduled for April or May each year. Parent volunteers are
needed to help with the auditions and rehearsals, decorating the set, and helping during the event.

Fifth Grade Events:
D.A.R.E Graduation: The committee is responsible for organizing the D.A.R.E Graduation for the 5th
grade students (November – date TBD.)

Fifth Grade Celebration: This committee is comprised of 5th grade parents and teachers. They will plan
a year end celebration for their students. This event may include refreshments, games, memory books
and social time. Activities will be jointly decided upon by the committee and 5th grade teachers.

“Salute to Fifth Grade”: This is an event to honor our 5th Graders and send them off to Middle School.
