ANNEX V (i) PRE-ARRIVAL VISA APPLICATION (VISA APPROVAL LETTER) ONLINE APPLICATION THROUGH EMGS UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA (UTM) welcomes you to further your study at the university. To expedite the student pre-arrival visa application, please follow these instructions: STEP 1: COMPLETE YOUR DOCUMENTS You need to complete & scan your documents listed in the application pre-arrival checklist [Annex V (iii)]. Please ensure that you have compiled all the required documents. STEP 2: APPLY YOUR STUDENT VISA ONLINE Apply online your student visa through Education http://educationmalaysia.gov.my/ Complete the online application form Upload the related documents Make payment to EMGS Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) at Note: Please read the UTM & EMGS user guide before creating an application STEP 3: PAY A PROCESSING FEE TO UTM After submit your application to EMGS, student need to pay UTM processing fee as follows: Amount: RM350 (Malaysia Ringgit: Three Hundred and Fifty Ringgit only) Online payment via http://ecommerce.utm.my/ecommerce/ Please click: Payment > Read > Action> Visa Approval Letter (VAL) Payment (UTM0195) :RM350 Note: Please email the transaction slip to [email protected] STEP 4: CHECK YOUR VISA APPLICATION STATUS You may check the status of your visa application [after one (1) month of submission] via http://educationmalaysia.gov.my . EMGS will send to UTM the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) and we will email to student after receiving VAL. STEP 5: APPLY SINGLE ENTRY VISA TO MALAYSIA After receiving the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) from UTM, you will need to apply for the Single Entry Visa (SEV) at the Malaysia Representative Office as stated in the VAL. 1. Students from non-visa required countries can proceed to enter Malaysia by producing the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) upon arrival. 2. Students from visa required countries without a Malaysia Representative Office are permitted to enter without a visa. However, students must present the VAL upon entry. 3. Students from visa required countries which have a Malaysia Representative Office must obtain VAL prior to their entry into Malaysia. Please ensure that you check with the Malaysian Embassy or High Commission in your country before finalizing your travel plans. Note: Students are advised NOT to enter Malaysia too early before your registration date. ANNEX V (ii) STEP 6: ARRIVAL IN MALAYSIA Upon arrival in Malaysia, please ensure that the Special Pass endorsed by the Immigration is for 30 days. Within the 30 day period, you will need to complete the following to obtain a Student Visa: 1. Report to UTM International Student Center (ISC) for Medical Check-up arrangement at UTM Health Center within 7 days of arrival and your accommodation (if required). 2. Register as a student at the specific location stated in offer letter or at Student Recruitment & Admission Office, UTM. 3. Apply for Student Pass at UTM International Student Centre (visit http://isc.utm.my for details on applying student pass) For any inquiries about pre-arrival visa, please e-mail to UTM-SRAD at [email protected] ****** STUDENT WELFARE & OTHERS Accommodation will only be provided from the date of reception (refer to ISC website http://isc.utm.my). Students arriving after 5.00pm (Malaysia time) or during public holiday/ weekend are advised to organize their own accommodation. . Married students are advised to enter Malaysia as a single traveler. Dependent passes can only be applied after a student’s pass is issued. DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR FLIGHT TICKET until you have obtained the VAL & SEV approvals. The VAL will take approximately 6 TO 12 WEEKS to be approved. The Immigration Law of Malaysia does not allow foreigners entering Malaysia on a Social Visit Pass to apply for Student Pass. UTM will not be responsible, and directly or indirectly liable, in any way for the misuse of the Social Visit Pass.
