Paul A. Miller
Miller/Wenhold Capitol Strategies, LLC
Board Chairman
Paul was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. He
received a BS in Political Science from the University of
Wisconsin Whitewater. Currently, Paul has his own
lobbying firm Miller/Wenhold Capitol Strategies, LLC. In
addition to his work for his firm, Paul was elected as the
youngest President of the American League of Lobbyists,
the national association representing the lobbying
profession.
Basketball is a passion for Paul. In addition to his work
with the Hoops For Youth Foundation, he coaches youth
basketball at St. Timothy's in Chantilly.
He has two daughters Taylor 6 and Alexis 3.

Danny Leonard

Vice President
Danny Leonard, Open Market Energy, Vice President,
Government Affairs and Business Development
Danny's company works with business owners to solve
facility energy management issues while reducing costs
and improving energy sustainability.
Danny was born in Milwaukee, WI, and grew up in
Washington, DC, after his father, the late Jerris Leonard,
was appointed Assistant Attorney General, head of the
Civil Rights Division during the Nixon administration.
Danny graduated from Gonzaga College High School and
received a BS in Public Administration from West Chester
University in Pennsylvania.
In addition to his work with the Hoops for Youth
Foundation, Danny has been a coach of various Falls
Church select basketball teams in the Fairfax County
Basketball League for over 10 seasons.
Danny is married to his wife Kelly and they reside in Falls
Church, VA with their four children, Haley, Danny, Jr.,
Ryan and Keelyn.

Monte Ward

Monte Ward is President of Advanced Capitol Consulting
- a company dedicated to assisting its clients in
achieving their legislative and regulatory goals through
government relations and advocacy services.
Prior to joining Advanced Capitol Consulting, Monte
served as Vice President of Federal Affairs for the
National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, the
largest property/casualty insurance trade association
serving over 1,300 member companies.
Monte's Washington DC experience began on Capitol Hill
where he worked as a staff assistant for Congressman
John J. Rhodes, III (AZ), a legislative assistant for
Congressman Jay Dickey (AR) and a legislative director
for Congressman Michael Forbes (NY).
Monte is married to Jennifer and they have five boys. He
is a basketball and baseball coach and a leader in the
Boy Scouts of America. Monte also serves on the board
of the American League of Lobbyists.

Brad Knox

Treasurer
Brad brings to the board a wide range of experiences,
including time as an Air Force JAG, an entrepreneur,
chief counsel to the House Committee on Small
Business, and currently in-house counsel to Aflac's
federal relations division.
He also sits on the board of a high-tech engineering firm.
Brad received his bachelor's degree from Oral Roberts
University and his Juris Doctor from Regent University
School of Law.
He is married with three kids and resides in northern
Virginia.

Mark Johnson

Board Member
Mark Johnson currently serves as a National Manager for
Toyota in their government affairs office in Washington,
D.C., where he is responsible for the company’s
compliance with government ethics laws and legislative
issues related to safety, intellectual property and
financial services issues. Prior to coming to Toyota, he
served as Chief of Staff for Representative Shelley Moore
Capito (R-WV).
Before beginning his career in government service, Mark
spent two years as a high school Latin and government
teacher at Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Virginia.
Mark currently resides in Bristow, Virginia with his wife
Lisa and their two children, Grant (age 11) and Hannah
(age 9).

Kate Leonard

Board Member
Kate Leonard is the Owner of The Leonard Group, a
Small Woman-Owned Business (SWOB), which assists
clients with their Federal and State Government
Relations and Business Development concerns and is
located at the Watergate in the heart of Washington DC,
minutes from Capitol Hill.
Kate is a Sponsor and Mentor of a student at the
Washington Jesuit Academy continuing her life-long
interest in working with at-risk youth as she began
decades ago as a year-long volunteer-teacher at Red
Cloud Indian School on the Pine Ridge Indian
Reservation in South Dakota and continued her work
through volunteer tutoring programs and as Hoops for
Youth, Hill Day Chair.
