2011 HACR YOUNG HISPANIC
CORPORATE ACHIEVERS™
The Hispanic Association on Corporate
Responsibility (HACR) honored 28 young
Hispanic corporate executives at this
year’s HACR Young Hispanic Corporate
Achievers™ program in Washington,
DC. Now in its fifth year, the program
recognizes talented young professionals
from Fortune 500 and/or HACR corporate
member companies for their exceptional
achievements and successful leadership
abilities, as well as their ongoing
commitment to the Hispanic community.
Once again, longtime corporate member
Altria hosted the program.
“Receiving the YHCA award was of
course an honor to receive, but even more
valuable to me was the opportunity to
learn from the diverse talent of the Fortune
500 companies present at the training
and parallel conference. The training that
accompanied the award was a highlight
in my career and was so valuable to me; I
continue to reflect daily and utilize the tools
I gained regarding leadership, motivation,
and commitment to Hispanic inclusion.
The experience of YHCA serves as a turning
point for me in the way I approach my
work, my day to day thinking, and my
future goals”, said Jessica Frank Lopez,
Director of the Office of International
Affairs, AARP. Following its five-year tradition, the
program recognized young executives of
Hispanic heritage between the ages of 25
and 40, who work in Fortune 500 companies
and/or HACR corporate member
companies, and have demonstrated
leadership qualities and a proven
commitment to the Hispanic community.
The professionals gathered for the threeday event where they participated in teambuilding exercises, group presentations
and thought-provoking panel discussions
and sessions, including corporate diversity,
personal branding, inclusion and effective
leadership in the workplace. The achievers
also had the opportunity to attend
inspiring keynotes on the importance of
diversity and successful leadership building
in Corporate America, presented by
renowned speakers and panelists, including
Dr. Juana Bordas, Dr. Jorge Cherbosque, Lou
Nieto, Patricia Salas Pineda, George Herrera,
Maria Sastre, Frank Ros and Alejandro
Hernandez.
“The caliber of talent continues to grow
each and every year. It’s always exciting
to see so many companies nominate and
support their best and brightest young
talent,” said HACR President & CEO, Carlos F.
Orta. “We hope this year’s exemplary group
of young executives and leaders were able
to leave the event stronger, with new ideas
and even more inspired to further explore
the mission of advancing Hispanic inclusion
in Corporate America.”
The 2011 HACR YHCA class is comprised
of 17 managers/directors and two vice
presidents within Corporate America. Of
the 28 finalists, 17 have master’s degrees,
28 have bachelor’s degrees, and combined,
serve on 25 non-profit boards resulting
in 5,571 hours of volunteer community
service. Collectively, this year’s class
represents 13 states and the District of
Columbia.
HACR understands the critical
importance of Hispanic talent to
a company’s success, and works
collaboratively with companies and
corporate members to help them identify
the potential of their younger leaders in
order to continue elevating the power of
Hispanic inclusion in the U.S.
The sixth annual HACR YHCA Program
will be held next year in Chicago, IL, in
conjunction with the organization’s Annual
Symposium.
