Summary
The Bill of Materials for Project dialog allows you to generate a customized Bill of Materials.
Access
This dialog can be accessed by clicking Configure next to Bill of Materials from the Generate
output files dialog. The Generate output files dialog can be accessed in the following ways:
Click Project | Project Actions |
.
Click Home | Project |
» Generate outputs from the PCB or schematic editor.
Options/Controls
The dialog is divided into the following regions:
Grouped Columns - you can choose to group components together by one or more specific
columns of information.
All Columns - lists all available columns that can be shown in the BOM data region.
BOM Data - lists all the data that will appear in the Bill of Materials.
Export Options - allows you to select the file format when exporting.
Excel Options - allows you to use a template for exporting.
Supplier Options - if Supplier Links have been added to the components, the linked supplier
data can be included.
Additional Controls
Grouped Columns
The column heading appears in the Grouped Columns section and the data is updated to display
according to the new groups.
Show - Check the Show box to add the corresponding data to BOM data area.
All Columns
The All Columns section These information columns are sourced from the properties of all
components on the document (or the source documents if a project is open) for which the report is
being generated.
Show - Check the Show box to add the corresponding data to BOM data area.
Click, drag and drop the desired information column from the All Columns section into
the Grouped Columns and the data will be updated to display according to the new groups
BOM Data
The column of data is defined by ticking the Show box in Grouped Columns and All Columns area.
You can click, drag and drop a column name in the All Columns section or to its new
position in the list or click, drag and drop a column heading in the data section to sort the
order of the data columns
Export Options
File Format - select a File Format from the drop-down list. When exporting the data using the
Export option from the Report Manager dialog, the following file formats are supported:
CSV (Comma Delimited) (*.csv)
Microsoft Excel Worksheet (*.xls)
Portable Document Format (*.pdf)
Tab Delimited Text (*.txt)
Web Page (*.htm;*.html)
XML Spreadsheet (*.xml)
Add to Project - allows you to have the generated Bill of Materials report added to the project
after it is created.
Open Exported - check this option to open the relevant software application, e.g. Microsoft
Excel, once the exported file has been saved.
Excel Options
Template - enter the desired Excel template file by typing the file name into the text box, by
using the drop down and selecting the file, or browsing for the file by clicking the ... button.
Relative Path to Template File - check this option to show the relative path to the template
file.
Supplier Options
Text box? (add supplier links)
Production Quantity - use up and down arrows to select used to determine the Supplier Order
Quantity – the quantity of component that would need to be ordered to produce the given
product quantity.
Round up Supplier Order Qty to cheaper price break - The Supplier Order Quantity is used
to determine the Supplier Unit Price that applies. Remember that suppliers typically offer
various quantity pricing levels, depending on how many units of an item you purchase. To have
Altium Designer round up the Supplier Order Quantity to take advantage of the next (reduced)
pricing level, simply enable the Round up Supplier Order Qty to cheaper price
break option.
Use cached pricing data in parameters if offline - When working offline, you have the
ability to use the last cached pricing data in these pricing-based parameters. Simply enable
the Use cached pricing data in parameters if offline option
Supplier data is only available when generating a Bill of Materials for the project. It is not
available when generating a Bill of Materials for a PCB document, and is also not included
when generating a Simple BOM.
Additional Controls
Include Not Fitted Components - check this option to include components that are not fitted.
if you use Variant in project.
Include Parameters From Database - check this option to include parameters from
database. If it is checked, parameters will be shown in All Column region.
Include Parameters From PCB - check this option to include parameters from PCB (eg.,
Layer). If it is checked, parameters will be shown in All Column region.
Menu - click to access a menu of options including the following:
Export - use to save the Bill of Materials data to another location.
Report - use to open the Report Preview dialog where you can print the report.
Column Best Fit - use to change the column widths
Force Columns to View - use to
Change PCB Document Change Variant Export - click to generate a Bill of Materials according to the settings.
Changing Supplier Currency - You can specify the currency used for pricing-related data in a
Bill of Materials, from a range of supported currencies. Simply choose the required currency
from the drop-down field available to the left of the Production Quantity field, in the Supplier
Optionsregion of the Bill of Materials dialog.
Include Parameters From Vault - If the component is from Vault, select this option to include
