In 2015 we were able to honor our commitment to provide funds to enhance the lives of the residents of the Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community. We started the year by once again contributing funds for continuing staff training for Drum Circle Therapy. A company called Generation Connect has been teaching residents to use iPads and other electronic equipment, and the Auxiliary has supplied the funds to purchase 4 IPod Shuffles, 4 sets of noise canceling headphones and 4 iPad Air 2s that were requested for Nursing Care at a total of $2,843. We continued our sponsorship for the Grand Illumination by donating $550 for the remembrance booklets and two luminaries honoring the residents and staff of Normandie Ridge. Earlier in the year we increased our contribution to the Golf Challenge by donating $2,000. Profits from the Grande Illumination and the Golf Challenge benefit the Benevolent Fund. The Auxiliary will also give $2,500 to help publish a book commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Albright Care Services. The Auxiliary will receive the proceeds from the books sold at Normandie Ridge. I also want to thank our Auxiliary Board for their dedication in serving and directing our organization. We had a very successful 23rd Anniversary Celebration bringing in over $5,000. You can see the full report in this issue of Tidings. An expression of appreciation is also given to Albright Care Services and the Staff of Normandie Ridge for their continued support of the Auxiliary. God’s Blessings to all of you as we serve in 2016. It is time to renew your dues for the New Year. It is also a good time to invite your friends to join the Auxiliary with you. You can complete the application form available in the newsletter. The dues, contributions and fundraisers enable the Auxiliary to support Albright Care Services in providing for quality and abundance of life for the residents of Normandie Ridge and to let their lives shine. Membership is open to all who embrace the Auxiliary’s mission and purpose. Through the support of its members, the Auxiliary has provided training for drum therapy, iPads to build memory skills and iPods to engage and stimulate the minds of the residents in personal care and skilled nursing and will also be used in the new Memory Care Residence. The Memory Care Residence will be opening in January. The Auxiliary holds three general meetings during the year in February, May and September. The Normandie Ridge Anniversary Celebration, coordinated by the Auxiliary, is held annually on the second Saturday of October. The celebration is a fun event with a variety of entertainment, food, craft sales, and basket auction. The Auxiliary will hold its 2nd Annual Fashion Show on April 9. The Tidings newsletter is published three times each year prior to the meetings to inform the members of upcoming events and general Auxiliary news. The Tidings can be viewed on the Normandie Ridge website www.normandieridge.org/ auxiliary. The first issue of each year is mailed to every member. Check the year on the mailing label on this newsletter to see if your dues are current for 2016. We look forward to seeing you at the February General Meeting. Page 4 ‐ Winter 2016 Tidings Volume XXIII, Issue 1 2015 ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION Our 23rd Anniversary Celebration held in October proved to be a tremendous success both in the funds received and the enjoyment of those of the Normandie Ridge Community and the broader York Community. Residents and guests especially enjoyed participating in the Normandie Ridge Drum Circle shown at left. We thank each one of you who participated in any way to support this event. Below is the financial report for the celebration submitted by Chuck Martin our Treasurer. Please keep in mind much is donated by individual donors and churches and Normandie Ridge itself so this keeps our expenses lower than they would be otherwise.
