Drama Club is the only theater based club that we have at Churchill. Al students participate; whether on stage or behind the scenes. The main production put on by the Drama Club is One Acts, a night of student produced, directed, and performed scenes. EMPEL is a club that focuses on bettering the lives of the elderly. From fundraising for Alzheimer’s Disease to encouraging members to volunteer at local senior homes, this club is a great fit for anyone who wants to help shed light on issues like elderly loneliness and abuse that often go unnoticed. The friendship Bracelet Club goal is to make friendship bracelets and donate them to the Children’s Inn hospital. It’s also a fun way to meet new people and to learn a new skill. Operation Smile is to educate others about those with cleft lips and cleft palate, and encourages people to stand up and help those who need assistance for procedures to have a happy smile. Fund-raising activities will be held, and donations will be collected to fill up patients' Smile Bags, Child Life Therapy Boxes, and any other supplies needed. the club is for the purpose of improving photography, regardless of if you view it as a hobby, profession, or lifestyle This club intends to use creative ability and express it using the software known as Photoshop. After basic and advance functions are taught, an individual (who has participated for the majority of the club’s time because it is similar to a class) should be able to imagine anything and draw it in Photoshop (no matter how unrealistic it may be). In addition to the technical aspects of the program, creative thinking is encouraged (as it is required to start a self-guided project in Photoshop). At meetings, in the beginning of the year, the technical aspects of Photoshop are taught (levels, curves, channels, filters, and overall artistic effect such as shadows, and directional lighting), and as the club progresses towards the end of the year, more advance projects that focus on creativity, and the 18 Meetings held on Thursdays in room 153. This club will also focus on improving self-awareness. These are important skills to have in case of emergencies and are necessary for protection. Meets every Friday during lunch in room 121 Project Protect 19 Meetings in room 236, every other Thursday. for the first half of lunch, first meeting date TBD and will be announced on our Facebook page Project Shelter Public Health Society Realizing Every Action Can Help (REACH) Project Shelter is a club devoted to supporting the wellbeing of animals in need. Whether these animals have been abused, are homeless, or under cared for, we focus on volunteering and dedicating time and labor to local barns; We also provide fundraising opportunities to raise and donate money focused on local shelters in need of outside help. Project Shelter is a fit for a variety of students! It’s open to students who are focused on working with animals in the future or simply those who enjoy the presence of animals. Public Health society is a club that aims to make Churchill a cleaner place. Think about the fall and winter seasons. Almost a third of the class has sniffles or is out with the cold. To help reduce the spread of disease throughout Churchill, we will wipe down the germ infested chromebooks, clean the keyboards and distribute hand sanitizers before lunch. Join the movement to make Churchill a cleaner place! REACH (Realizing Every Action Can Help) is a humanitarian club dedicated to taking action locally to better the world around us. We believe that every person has the ability to make a difference. Ms. Deoro’s room 224 Date and time TBA Mr. Brown’s room dates will be announced via Facebook Republican Club Robotics Team Sexuality and Gender Association (SAGA) Save the Bay The Republican Club will serve as a refuge for any students who have ideologies on the right wing spectrum, or anyone who wants to learn about the conservative beliefs. We will discuss what Republicans believe about certain topics, and discuss our own opinions on them free of judgement. We will also go over current events, and have several Republican speakers discuss what being Republican means to them. If you want to engage in political discourse free of judgment, come by for enriching conversation, and of course, pizza! Program robots and work together as a team to represent Churchill in competitions. The Sexuality and Gender Association (SAGA) offers a safe place for students to come learn about LGBTQ+ matters. SAGA also offers LGBTQ+ students a place to meet other LGBTQ+ students and talk about anything on their mind. We are a safe place for everyone! Save the Bay is a club organized by Churchill students in order to raise awareness for the rising pollution in the Chesapeake Bay. The club organizes numerous activities, both in and out of school that ranges from creating posters to participating in outdoor cleanups. Additionally, the club organizes fundraisers where all proceeds go directly toward The Chesapeake Bay Foundation. In just one year we have raised over $750. Save the Bay is a fun and 21 Meetings on the first and third Wednesday of every month in Mrs. Aghion’s room (Rm 125). Meetings will be held during lunch. Science Bowl Slam Poetry Club Smart Sacks Snow Sports Club unique way for students to earn ssl hours throughout the year. Played science bowl in MS or looking for a STEM related club to join? Science Bowl intends to attend the Department of Energy’s science competition. Come and have fun with your friends while learning more about science/math in the process. Slam poetry is the art of bringing the written word to life. The goal of this club to introduce people to the beauty of slam poetry, give students a safe space to share their slam poetry and to help students improve their writing. All are welcome in this club, no matter their level of experience. Want to help others? Smart Sacks is a program created by the Manna Food Center to provide students, whose meals at school are their only meals throughout the week, with nutritious food on the weekends. We pack and deliver “sacks” of healthy food to these students monthly. Participating in Churchill’s Smart Sacks club is a unique way to aid your peers from all around the county. We are Churchill's premier skiing and snowboarding club. We are planning meetups (not during the school day) at local ski resorts, ski movie screenings, discussions and much more. We will talk about ski areas in MD, PA, VA, WV and how to get a very discounted night season pass for Liberty, Whitetail and Roundtop. Every other Tuesday in Mrs. Perrett’s room 229 Society for the Study of Modern Japanese Culture The goal of the Society for the Study of Modern Japanese Culture is to provide students with a suitable way to analyze Japanese Culture through various anime films, such as Avatar The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. These showing are followed by discussions of the episode. Occasional reenactment sessions. Spanish Book Do you like Spanish? Do you like Club reading? If so then this is the club for you! Each meeting, we will read and discuss a different short story in Spanish. Join us for a fun opportunity to sharpen your Spanish skills, have interesting conversations, and eat cookies. Sports History Sports History Club is all about Club sharing the love of sports that Churchill students have. We cover events, players, and issues that not only relate to sports, but society in general. Each meeting will include discussion of race, gender, religion, and other aspects of life that is affected by sports. Stay True Stay True club promotes a brandnew Churchill, where students make safe decisions based on morals. We stand for abstinence from drugs, alcohol, and sexual behavior. If you believe in creating a more stable, and moral student body, come to our first meeting this Friday! There will be pizza! Students Our goal is to promote school Promoting spirit and enthusiasm! Taiwanese Our mission is to spread and share American Taiwanese culture, traditions, Culture Club foods, literature, arts and crafts, music, and more. We hope to spread diversity at Churchill, so anyone is welcome! Come to learn, interact, connect, and most importantly, have fun with all your peers at Churchill! Theta Psi Beta Step team welcomes students from Step Team any background, inviting anyone to come participate in a fun and interesting form of dance called stepping! Originating in Africa, this dance is unlike any other, where the participants use their entire bodies to create complex rhythms, sounds, and beats (whether it be, claps, stomps, chants, or more). Step Team performs throughout the year at a variety of community events, including basketball games, pep rallies, and local school appearances. Practices occur every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, right after school until 3:50, outside the cafeteria Think Big Think Big is an entrepreneurship club, but it has also evolved into a body of students passionate about realizing ideas that have a large impact on the Churchill community. In addition to lunchtime entrepreneurship workshops, Think Big organizes TEDxChurchillHighSchool, an annual event devoted to inspiring curious students. Everything we do is dedicated to creating an environment where innovative students can explore, making it fun for everyone! Unique Image Unique Image is a dance team, where everyone comes together to express themselves emotionally and spiritually through dance. A place where they can be able to be themselves and showcase what they have and learned. It’s a brotherly, sisterly bond. We will have many different performances, during basketball season, talent show and sometimes in school during lunch performances. Unlimited Unlimited is a club to encourage fellowship, spiritual growth, and to become a strong Christian community in our school. We will provide regular opportunities to study and discuss the bible, worship, and pray together. We will occasionally have youth pastors/leaders speak at our meetings. Sponsor- Ms. Smith Water The Water Activities club will Activities Club focus on fun, environmentally 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month @lunch 11:15-11:55 in Mr. Clark’s Room World Bank Book Club 2nd and 3rd Thursday of each month during Lunch in Ms. Smith’s room (Rm 248) Young Democrats friendly activities to help maintain the natural beauty of the local rivers including the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers as well as the Chesapeake Bay. In addition, the club will promote safe and enjoyable water activities such as kayaking, canoeing and rowing. Once a month we will meet at one of the local water front parks to help clean the area. Meetings will be twice a month, the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month to discuss fundraising ideas and cleanup days. The WBFN Book Project is a World Bank Family Network initiative which distributes books to developing countries all over the world. Its main goal is to promote education by giving textbooks to schools and community libraries in impoverished places and to give children the opportunity to learn and widen their knowledge through books. The goal of WCHS Young Democrats is to engage politically interested students at Churchill who are eager to learn more about the political process. Meetings will include special speakers who are approved by the school as well as presentations on social and economic issues. Out of 26 First and third Tuesday of every month, room 226 school events will include political rallies as well as community service. 27
