SUBJECT: Removal of National Third Vice Commander position in National CBL
SOURCE: AMVETS Department of Virginia
WHEREAS, the National Third Vice Commander is responsible for the legislative activities of
the organization and shall coordinate all department legislative leadership or Vice Commanders
in charge of legislative undertakings; and
WHEREAS, the National Third Vice Commander, working in concert with the National
Legislative Director, shall also(1) Coordinate all legislative activities between national headquarters and all departments;
(2) Endeavor to create and present new legislative participation incentives to the National
Commander and/or the National Executive Committee;
(3) Be informed as to all legislative activities instituted by National HQ;
(4) Perform such other duties in connection with AMVETS legislative activities as the
National Commander shall direct; and
WHEREAS, each Department has a responsibility to inform the National Legislative Director of
all legislative activities within the Department/National level concerning veteran issues; and
WHEREAS, the National Legislative Director is responsible to coordinate the future National
Headquarters legislative agenda and present all changes to the National CBL at NEC/National
Conventions; and
WHEREAS, the National Third Vice Commander position does not provide any additional
legislative participation incentives to National HQ and the Departments as performed by the
National Legislative Director; now therefore be it
RESOLIVED, that AMVETS National Constitution Article VI, Section 1. (a) amended to
remove the position of National Third Vice Commander. As such, AMVETS National Bylaws
Article III, Section 2. (c) shall be removed.
