A gold standard organisation providing award winning services

Empowering People
Our commitment to a person centred approach is about
ensuring people who use St Anne’s services are able to
contribute to the way those services are provided. There
are a range of Client Forums throughout St Anne’s, who
get together to discuss and consult with others on issues
that are important to them. As an organisation, we
encourage these groups and take the opportunity to seek
feedback, news and ideas from those involved.
People who use our services are well represented on St
Anne’s Board. In addition, a number of working parties
developing polices and working practices have client
representation and clients are involved in the recruitment
of new staff as a matter of course.
Volunteering
St Anne’s welcomes and values people who are able to
undertake voluntary work with us. Opportunities are
usually just a few hours per week including helping to
accompany clients on leisure and cultural activities, such
as cinema, sports, religious venues or just sitting and
reading or watching the TV with someone.
Volunteers are offered regular supervision and ongoing
support, and there is access to the same training
opportunities offered to staff. For more details please visit
our website to see details of services you may be
interested in.
For example, our Kirklees Befriending Service recruits
volunteers to provide social and emotional support to
individuals who experience mental health difficulties.
The Befriender provides companionship and support to
access community and social outlets in the Kirklees
district, depending on individual interest or aspirations.
We actively welcome and encourage applications to
volunteer from people who are using or who have used
mental health services.

Alcohol and Drug Services
Introduction
St Anne’s provides a wide range of quality services for
people who require support for one or more reasons.
We work with people who have a learning disability, have
mental health problems, people with issues around
substance use – drugs and/or alcohol and people who
are or have been homeless. Services include a variety of
housing and accommodation based support and care,
day services and community based support. St Anne’s is
a major provider of services across the whole of Yorkshire
and the North East.
We are proud of our reputation for developing and
providing high quality innovative services that effectively
ensure people are supported to meet their agreed
outcomes to enhance their overall well being – taking a
person centred approach to everything that we do. We
work in close partnership with both statutory and voluntary
sector agencies. We are committed to the provision of the
highest quality services and providing value for money.
Learning Disability Services
St Anne’s has been providing services for people with
learning disabilities since 1985 including a range of
services to enable people to live fulfilling lives as
independently as possible.
We offer a range of accommodation from registered
nursing and care homes to small supported living shared
houses and independent flats. In addition, we support
clients to live independently with the back-up of our
Floating Outreach and Domiciliary Care services. We also
have a day service in Huddersfield for people with
profound disabilities and a Shared Lives scheme in
Leeds where clients are matched to live with families.
Respite services are available to people with learning
disabilities who live in Calderdale, Kirklees and Barnsley.
We currently have services in Leeds, North Yorkshire,
Calderdale, Kirklees, York, East Yorkshire,
Middlesbrough, County Durham, Teesside, Sunderland,
North and South Tyneside, Sheffield, Barnsley,
Newcastle, Gateshead, Bradford and Doncaster.
St Anne’s has a range of specialist facilities for people of
all ages with learning disabilities – including people with
multiple disabilities, people who have a history of
offending, those who challenge services and those who
need end of life care.
Our service is about much more than supporting people
to maintain somewhere to live. We want people to
achieve as much independence as possible and achieve
their goals and aspirations by providing opportunities for
training, education, work and leisure activities.
Mental Health Services
St. Anne’s has more than 35 years’ experience of
providing mental health services and we offer a range of
accommodation including small supported living shared
houses and independent flats in Leeds, Wakefield and
Kirklees. We also support clients to live independently with
the back-up of our Floating Outreach services in Leeds,
Sheffield, York and Kirklees. As part of the Leeds Mental
Health Consortium’s ‘Positive Pathways’ service, we
provide floating support to people who have a dual
diagnosis. A Befriending Service in North Kirklees
provides one to one support for people and Kirklees also
has a Carers Breaks Service that supports both clients
and their carers.
Our accommodation based services aim to offer a
supportive place to live which respects personal privacy
and promotes recovery, independence and abilities. The
tenants are fully involved in the development of their
Individual Support Plans and are fully supported to take up
leisure, educational and employment opportunities.
Tenants have diverse backgrounds and needs; our aim is
to work as flexibly as possible to meet identified outcomes.
Many of the people receiving services have severe and
enduring mental health problems and the aim of all our
services is to work with the person to provide practical,
emotional and social support to individuals and their carers.
We work closely with and complement the role of the
community mental health teams and other organisations
working in the areas – often a key element in maintaining
the progress that clients have made. The services aim to
enable people to live independently by offering regular,
planned practical support. In Sheffield, we offer a Support
Planning service, which helps people with individual
budgets tailor their plans to meet their individual needs.
St Anne’s also deliver the Leeds Dual Diagnosis project.
The aim of the project is to improve access to treatment
and outcomes for people who experience co-existing
drug/alcohol use and mental health disorders. It is a multiagency network developed to ensure that services that
come in to contact with this client group are readily able to
assess, engage and to co-ordinate care effectively. Our
partnership includes professionals from a range of mental
health, drug and alcohol services who have a shared vision
of collaborative and integrated treatment. More information
can be accessed at www.dual-diagnosis.org.uk
Alcohol Services
Drugs Services
As part of its substance use services, St Anne’s has been
providing specialist support and treatment for people who
use alcohol in Leeds since 1973. We currently provide 5
detoxification beds, 14 rehabilitation beds and a floating
outreach support service. In addition to the 14 rehabilitation
beds in St Mark’s House we have a further four rehabilitation
bedrooms in the adjoining building, Ashton House. These
four spaces were redeveloped in 2015 and are designed to
promote independence and to further equip clients with
necessary skills prior to leaving rehab. These services are all
based in one centre which provides nursing, Support
Educational, Resettlement and Domestic staff.
St Anne’s are proud to be part of the Forward Leeds
Consortium delivering high quality Drugs and Alcohol
services Across Leeds
The detoxification programme supports people through the
withdrawal from alcohol they might experience when they
stop drinking. It is designed to help people to stop drinking
safely, and to provide support, information and advice
regarding further changes they might have to make to
remain abstinent. For people who have decided that they
wish to change their use of alcohol there is a structured 13
week rehabilitation residential programme aimed at
encouraging and endorsing abstinence.
The floating support service works with people for between
6 weeks and 2 years so that they can remain living in their
tenancy or secure appropriate accommodation.
FORWARD LEEDS will help people choose not to misuse
alcohol and drugs, and reduce risk taking behaviour through
dedicated prevention and early intervention support.
The service supports people to help them achieve recovery
from alcohol and drug misuse through a range of treatment
and interventions.
FORWARD LEEDS will support sustained recovery and
enable individuals to make positive progress with their lives,
delivered through the Building Recovery in Communities
(BRiC) programme.
The specialised Young People’s service will provide
interventions that are responsive to the needs of young
people, ensuring the welfare of the young person
remains paramount.
COaST in Kirklees provides a service to specifically advise,
help and support the carers of people whose lives are
affected by drug use.
