New Ballas Road This workshop focuses on using fun self-portraits to increase awareness of internal positive qualities. This is not a photography class and girls do not need a camera; portrait-taking equipment will be supplied. Girls should bring a sack lunch, drink and copy of a childhood photo. Activities will include a portrait session, creative writing, art and collage (depending on the weather, some activities may be outdoors). Participating students should be able to follow directions and stay on task, individually or with the aid of a caregiver, and be able to work with common art materials. This course provides cognitive stimulation, memory work, manual dexterity skill maintenance, and social interaction for seniors who may be starting to find it difficult to participate in regular classes and activities either due to memory deficits, or mild loss of motor function.
