Dear Westside parent, Registration time is upon us and we are looking forward to another opportunity to partner with you next year in “training up your child in the way” he/she should go (Prov. 22:6). One of the values we embrace here at Westside is the idea of “continuous improvement.” We regularly examine our programs and practices to see where we are doing well and how to continue with excellence, as well as consider how to grow in our ability to offer an outstanding education to our families. To augment our curricular programs, we are adding AP World History and AP Language and Composition to our Jump Year offerings, which means your child can receive college credit through Warner Pacific. We also hope to offer an Introduction to Business class and Chinese I (Mandarin). We hope that the business class will become part of a business track that we are able to offer our students, and that the Chinese I class will lead to more advanced classes in the coming years. st Our goal is to continue to provide an excellent and rich high school experience, which includes providing a 21 century learning experience. I am excited to announce a 1:1 laptop program, where every student will be provided with a device that will be assigned to them, which they can use for as long as they are enrolled as a student at Westside. Next year, we hope to provide multiple opportunities for students to see technology integrated to a greater degree in their classes, and the following year we will begin to adopt e-books. We have a technology committee right now going through a device selection process, as well as researching and designing a program for implementation and maintenance. Please pray as we are working hard to provide this experience for our students and staff in the upcoming year. Another exciting development for the 2015-16 is working on Phase I of the library. Over the summer, we hope to begin making changes to that space that will make it useful as a study and teaching and learning area for students and staff to utilize in support of academic excellence. To support our continued educational offerings as well as growth, tuition for 2015-16 has been set at $11,455. (Note: All tuition dollars are used to cover operating costs of the school and are not used for any building projects.) To support the 1:1 personal device initiative, the book and technology fee will increase by $425. We know it is a privilege that you have chosen us to educate your child(ren), one which we don’t take lightly. It is my goal to steward every dollar of the budget with integrity, knowing that many are making sacrifices for your children to be at Westside. Now I invite you to go to meetme.so/WestsideChristian and sign up for a 20-minute registration appointment on April 1, 2, 6, or 7. FORMS IN PDF FILE ❏ Please indicate your commitment to participate in Westside’s major fundraiser that supports school operations and financial aid scholarships - the Westside Legacy Fund. FORM IN PDF FILE Legacy Fund The Legacy Fund is Westside’s annual fundraiser, and allows us to move the vision of our school forward in the midst of rising costs. As in nearly all private schools, tuition at Westside does not cover the full cost of educating a student. Gifts to The Westside Legacy Fund help bridge the gap. Our desire is to keep a WCHS education within reach for the greatest number of families without compromising Westside’s commitment to excellence. We hope that after prayer and consideration, one of the below options is suitable for your family. Here are ways you can help: A $600 gift or pledge ($100 per month, July - December) ~ The simplest way to help is to make a minimum $600 per student gift or pledge to the Westside Legacy Fund . This offsets the per student cost of a Westside education and is a tax-deductible* gift. Make a gift and invite others to participate ~ Consider pledging a gift, and then share the stories of what God has been doing at Westside with friends and family and invite them to help you reach the goal of a $600 contribution per student. Pledge forms will be available at registration or from office staff. How much should I give? We appreciate that every family has a different financial situation and ask that you prayerfully consider how you wish to support Westside this year. The average amount needed per student to meet our budget is $600. As in previous years, if you are not able to give the entire $600 gift above tuition, we ask that you participate in our fundraising effort by giving what you can and then asking others to support our mission through charitable contributions to the school. How can I give a gift? Donations may be made as a one-time gift, or may be spread out into six monthly installments between July and December, or two quarterly installments (summer and fall). If you’d like to give monthly, please complete the ACH Payment Authorization form to make an automatic bank withdrawal separate from your tuition payment. My company provides matching gifts. Can I direct this to Westside as well? Please do! Westside is a 501(c)(3) organization and will benefit twice from your generosity with a matching gift from your employer. You will need to fill out your company's matching gift donation form and send it to us. Matching gift programs are a wonderful way to double your giving. Any other questions? Feel free to call Deb Givens at 503.697.4711 X 1244 or email [email protected] . * Your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
