Count the Jelly Beans Winner
Congratula5ons to Abby Postle who was closest to the correct amount of jelly beans
in the jar. Her guess was 513 and the correct amount was 487. This ac5vity was run
by the Student Representa5ve Council and was enjoyed by all guessers.
Home Game
Last Saturday, we had a home game. We have been complimented on the
smoothness of the flow of the morning’s games. Not only was the oval well prepared,
but we had all umpires and referees in place. Bunny Shed workers provided wonderful
snacks and the spirit of the crowd, while pro Injune was happy and suppor5ve of all
efforts of children.
Parent Numeracy Evening
Next Monday evening (6 June) from 6.00-7.30pm, staff will be running a hands on
workshop on addi5on and subtrac5on in the Years 3-6 Hub. Mrs Williams and Miss
Kennedy are running this workshop for parents of Years 3-6. All parents are welcome.
Please leave students at home and come along to play with hands on materials to
learn how to work with your children at home on addi5on and subtrac5on.

Instrumental Music (Mrs Jessica Logan)
On Tuesday 25th May, the Injune Awesome Foursome consis5ng of Ben B, Emily, Cooper M and Billy
competed in the bi-annual state Instrumental Music compe55on FANFARE. The quartet looked fabulous and
played soundly to achieve a Bronze award! Some of the adjudicator’s comments included working on bigger
bowing and striving to play harder music. He also men5oned that he enjoyed the performance and looks
forward to what the group will be able to achieve together in the next two years! Well done to everyone involved and a big thank-you to the parents who supported their children in this event. We will now be
working on new music with our beginner players and our senior quartet ready for Music Fest next term and
encourage all students to prac5ce in prepara5on for exams next Tuesday, 7th June.

Key Factors in Quad Bikes Accidents
I have been asked to put this informa5on in the newsleJer.
Key risk factors in riding Quad Bikes:
• There is a lack of consumer and public awareness of the dangers of quad bikes and
requirements to ride them safely.
• Quad bikes are decep5vely easy to ride which can lead to complacency with their
use.
• Approximately 75% of the quad bike fatali5es occurred on farms.
• Rollover occurred in 85% of the workrelated fatal cases compared to 56% of
recrea5onal cases.
• Loss of control on a slope and/or driving over an object was a factor in 58% of the
farm cases and 33% of recrea5onal cases.
• In work-related fatali5es, a higher percentage involved older riders (78% were 50
years or older). In comparison, only 9% of recrea5onal riders killed were over 50.
• The main cause of death for farm workers was chest injury (59%) compared to head
injury for recrea5onal riders (49%).
• Around 13% of farm workers died as a result of a head injury. A helmet was found to
be worn in only 22% of the fatal cases.

Our Leaders’ SACE Experience
Our Leaders SACE Experience
On Sunday 22nd May, Miss Horn had the pleasure of travelling to Toowoomba with our school leaders to aJend the
Spirit of the ANZAC Centenary Experience (SACE). They spent two nights
in Toowoomba with all travel and accommoda5on paid for by the
Queensland Government Travel Bursary, Miss Horn had applied for
earlier in the year. The experience was one both Miss Horn and the
students will remember fondly for years to come. An amazing exhibit of:
artefacts from World Wars, interac5ve imagery recrea5ng experiences of
the ANZAC’s and audio stories from the perspec5ves of soldiers; kept
Miss Horn and our school leaders enthralled and engaged throughout the
whole exhibi5on. Students wanted to share their experiences with the
school community. Below are a few of their tes5monials.
Hayley Northam – SRC President
The use of technology combined with the display of artefacts should truly be commended. The audio and stories we
listened to certainly helped deepen our connec on to the soldiers past and present. SACE was as very memorable
experience, one that won’t be forgo!en.
Laken Hornick – SRC Vice President & Tobruk House Captain
SACE was an amazing opportunity for a li!le school like Injune. My
favourite aspect of SACE was how they made the artefacts look
realis c and showed us everything in great detail. The people that
helped make this experience so good should be applauded on their
efforts. SACE was definitely worth it.
Conor Postle – Kokoda House Captain
During the exhibi on, we listened to 2-5 minute stories from men and women that were
in the world wars through head phones and we looked at artefacts that were used in the
world wars. My favourite things were how they used technology to recreate what it was
like to live during the world wars. It was a great experience and was worth every second.
Ben Bidgood – Kokoda House Captain
The experience was fantas c, I was amazed at the real artefacts like the machinery and what they had to live through.
I really liked the last stage! It was fantas c, with the names and photos of the people who went to war.

Biggest Muffin and Milo Morning Tea
Muffins & Milos for a Worthy Cause!
On the 26th of May 2016, at 8:30am the Injune P-10
State School Student Representative Council (SRC)
held their first ‘Biggest Milo Muffin Morning Tea’ in
support of cancer research. The morning tea involved a
mouth-watering choc chip muffin, a delicious milo and a
jelly bean jar guess. The SRC chose to recreate the
traditional Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea
Fundraiser to make it school-friendly, by substituting a
hot cup of coffee for a nice, warm Milo. Plus, they added
a Jelly Bean jar guess because who doesn’t love a jar
filled with hundreds of jelly beans?
Many students from the SRC helped for hours after school to
freshly bake all the muffins and prepare the supplies for the morning. At 8:00 am on Thursday the 26th May, the student council
representatives arrived bright and early to help with the final
preparations and serve the hungry masses of students and
teachers. There was not a chocolate-free face in sight! It was great to see over 70 muffins and milos sold
and the whole school getting behind such a wonderful cause. A big congratulations to Abby Postle, who
won the Jelly Beans jar with a guess of 513. The correct amount was 487. Very close, Abby! Injune P-10
State School is proud to have raised $450 to support cancer research and is more than keen to repeat
the fundraiser in years to come as it was so successful.
Thank you to all of the SRC students
and teachers for helping this event to
run
smoothly. We would also like to
give a big thanks to the Price family for
donating the Jelly Beans and the
Hornick family for donating the Milo.
A final thankyou goes out to the entire
school community for getting behind
the event.
