How will the US respond?
The US Foreign Policy during the Cold War is ________________________
The goal of this policy is…
Truman Doctrine
At the present moment in world history nearly every nation must choose between
alternative ways of life. The choice is often not a free one. One way of life is
based upon the will of the majority, and is distinguished by free institutions,
representative government, free elections, and guarantees of individual liberty,
freedom of speech and religion, and freedom from political oppression.
The second way of life is based upon the will of a minority forcibly imposed upon the
majority. It relies upon terror and oppression, a controlled press and radio, fixed
elections, and the suppression of personal freedom. I believe that it must be the
policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted
subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures.

12- Interstate Highway Act
Our unity as a nation is sustained by free communication of thought and by easy
transportation of people and goods. The ceaseless flow of information throughout
the Republic is matched by individual and commercial movement over a vast system
of inter-connected highways criss-crossing the Country and joining at our national
borders with friendly neighbors to the north and south… In case of an atomic
attack on our key cities, the road net must permit quick evacuation of target
areas, mobilization of defense forces and maintenance of every essential economic
function. But the present system in critical areas would be the breeder [cause] of
a deadly congestion within hours of an attack
