Metal Isotopes - Campro Scientific GmbH

Introduction & Welcome
Dear Researcher,
Thank you for your interest in our products and welcome to our Metal Isotopes Catalog.
We are pleased to provide you with this catalog that will give you an overview of most of the available stable
metal isotopes. The compounds that we can offer you are listed alphabetically by atomic symbol and include
the isotopic enrichment and chemical form as well as the natural abundance of the compound, the isotope
number and accurate mass.
Campro Scientific offers you this range of metal isotopes in the following chemical forms:
elemental, oxide, carbonate, chloride and sulphate and in several enrichments.
Oxidations, hydrogen and salt conversions are done routinely as well as the production of many foils to varying
sizes, shapes and tolerances.
In case of long term orders or large quantity orders for custom synthesis material (made to your specific
requirements), please contact one of our offices.
It is important to note that, even though our inventory is extensive, we cannot guarantee the availability of all
items, therefore we would like to encourage you to place an inquiry at one of our offices before placing your
order.
Finally, we would like to encourage you to visit our website where you will find the latest news as well as an
overview of our high quality products and information on the many well-established companies that
we represent throughout Europe.
We look forward to serving you with high quality Metal Isotopes.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ahmad Rajabi

Brief Introduction
A metal (from the greek word metallon) is an element that readily forms positive ions (cations) and
has metallic bonds.
Metals are sometimes described as a lattice of positive ions surrounded by a cloud of delocalized electrons.
The metals are one of the three groups of elements as distinguished by their ionization and
bonding properties, along with the metalloids and nonmetals. On the periodic table, a diagonal line drawn
from Boron (B) to Polonium (Po) separates the metals from the nonmetals. Elements on this line are
metalloids, sometimes called semi-metals; elements to the lower left are metals; elements to the upper right
are nonmetals.
A more modern definition of metals is that they have overlapping conduction bands and valence bands in
their electronic structure. This definition opens up the category for metallic polymers and other organic
metals, which have been made by researchers and employed in high-tech devices.
These synthetic materials often have the characteristic silvery-grey reflectiveness of elemental metals.
Metals have certain characteristic physical properties: they are usually shiny (they have “lustre”),
have a high density, are ductile and malleable, usually have a high melting point, are usually hard, and
conduct electricity and heat well. These properties are mainly because each atom exerts only a loose hold
on its outermost electrons (valence electrons); thus, the valence electrons form a sort of sea around the
atoms. Most metals are chemically stable, with the notable exception of the alkali metals and alkaline earth
metals, found in the leftmost two groups of the periodic table.
Nonmetals are more abundant in nature than metals, but metals in fact constitute most of the periodic table.
Some well-known metals are aluminium, copper, gold, iron, lead, silver, titanium, uranium and zinc.
An alloy is a mixture with metallic properties that contains at least one metal element. Examples of alloys are
steel (iron and carbon), brass (copper and zinc), bronze (copper and tin), and duralumin (aluminium and
copper). Alloys that are specially designed for highly demanding applications, such as jet engines for
example, may contain more than ten elements.
The oxides of metals are basic; the oxides of nonmetals are acidic. The allotropes of metals tend to be
lustrous, ductile, malleable and good conductors, while nonmetals generally speaking are brittle (for solid
nonmetals), lack luster, and are insulators.
The periodic “law” of chemistry recognises that properties of the chemical elements are periodic functions of
their atomic number (that is, the number of protons within the element’s atomic nucleus).
The periodic table is an arrangement of the chemical elements ordered by atomic number in columns
(groups) and rows (periods) presented so as to emphasize their periodic properties.
While the name Dmitri Mendeleev is usually credited with the form of the periodic table as we know it today,
many other excellent researchers have made profound contributions to its development,
including Antoine Lavoisier, Jöns Jakob Berzelius, Johann Döbereiner, John Newlands, Alexandre-Émile
Béguyer de Chancourtois and Lothar Meyer.
