Autumn Term 2015
“Starting Nursery” Focus on settling into a new environment and introduction of new
routines, getting to know each other, assessment of the children’s characteristics of
effective learning and individual interests.
Traditional Story: Goldilocks and the Three Bears
“My world” 1st half term. Topic focus linked to people in our families, people at school,
people who help us, people in stories, and the local environment.
“Journeys” 2nd half-term. Topic focus linked to how and why we travel, transport, The
Christmas Story ( going on a long journey) journeys in stories
Traditional Story: The Gingerbread Man”
“Festivals” Focus on Harvest Festival, 5th November, Christmas
Possible visits to be decided.
Whole School contribution: Nursery Christmas Nativity Assembly
Spring term 2016
“Buildings” 1st half term. Topic focus linked to different buildings in Norwich, buildings at
school, our homes, Norwich Castle, Norwich Cathedral etc
Traditional Story: The Three Little Pigs
“Growing plants, food and farms” 2nd half term. Topic focus linked to Spring, growing plants,
food and where it comes from, and farming.
Traditional Story: Jack and the Beanstalk
“Festivals” Focus on New Year, Chinese New Year, Mothering Sunday, Easter
Possible visits to be decided.
Summer term 2016
“A Long Time Ago” 1st half term. Topic focus on things that happened a long time ago,
volcanoes, dinosaurs, Knights, Castles, Princesses, Dragons, Space, Pirates
Traditional Story: The Princess and the Pea
“Places and Animals Far Away” 2nd half term. Focus linked to learning about people, places,
habitats and animals that are far away.
Traditional story: Three Billy Goats Gruff
Possible visits to be decided.
Whole School contribution: Nursery Sports Afternoon/Nursery end of year Assembly.
