The Presidents Quiz
AP US History
What is the Presidents Quiz?
During the 1st semester, you will be required to memorize the
chronological order of all US Presidents, including their years of
service and their political party. Correctly memorizing this list will give
you an essential tool for succeeding on the AP test in May. It is
imperative that each student understands the correct chronology of
American History. Committing this list to memory will allow you to
correctly organize historical era’s and phenomena in proper
chronological order.
When do I take the Presidents Quiz?
The quiz must be taken before 1st semester finals week (Final Deadline =
Friday December 16th), However when you take the quiz is entirely up to you.
Listed below are the times that you may take the Presidents Quiz.
• A+ (Pre-scheduled with Mr. Gibson)
• After School Monday-Thursday (Pre-Scheduled with Mr. Gibson)
• Lunch (Pre-Scheduled with Mr. Gibson)
How will the Presidents Quiz affect my grade?
All students in AP US History must take the Presidents Quiz at least 1 time
in order to receive a score. Your score will be based on the % of correct answers
you give. The quiz is worth up to 100 points and grading breakdown is listed
below.
• 80% Correct or Higher = 100 total points.
• 79-50% Correct = 50 total points
• Less than 50% Correct = 25 total points
• Not Taking the Presidents Quiz = 0 total points
What does a correct answer look like?
You must be able to place each President in correct order to be eligible for a point. Then in order to score the
point you must correctly identify their name, dates of service, and political party. So for example if you are
able to identify Abraham Lincoln / 1861-1865 / Republican, but you place this next to number 25 on the list,
you will not earn the point even though Lincoln’s information is correct.
How many times can I take the Presidents Quiz?
You make take the Presidents Quiz as many times as you like for a higher score. No quizzes will be allowed to
be taken/retaken after the December 16th deadline.
Why Gibson? Why? Don’t you like us?
Of course I do! Remember you are AP US History Jedi Knights, and in order to complete your training for
the AP test, memorize this list…you must. My best advice would be to take the quiz as early and as often as
possible until you achieve the 80% or higher score.
