ess. For each contest that 4‐H has during the school year 4‐H members must turn in an eligibility form. This form is taken to the member’s school for the principal to sign. The form serves two purposes. Its main objec‐
tive is to show that the member has passing grades and is eligible to par‐ ticipate in extracurricular activities. The other purpose is if the contest is on a school day is to assist the stu‐
dent in obtaining an excused ab‐
sence. These forms must be turned in by public, private and home school members. The forms are due no ear‐
lier than one week prior to the event. 4-H One Day Event
October 9, 2010 will be another great day for the Texas 4‐H and Youth De‐
velopment Program, as that it is the date for the 2nd Annual one day 4‐H event throughout our state. One day 4‐H is one day for all the 4‐H members, parents, leaders, and vol‐
unteers to step out into their commu‐
nities and county and say "thank you" by giving back for them more than 103 years of support to 4‐H in Texas. Page 6
This day of community service is what ever each 4‐H members, club, or county 4‐H Program wants it to be. It could be as simple as picking up trash and mowing the lawn for senior citi‐
zens to elaborate as hosting a 5K Walk/Run and raising money for a cause. In 2009, more than 9,000 4‐H members and adults participated in this great event, and in 2010 we know we can have 15,000! Do you accept the challenge? challenge not just to be part of a great project, be with your friends, but the challenge to make a differ‐
ence in your county and community! Register for this event at http://texas4‐h.tamu.edu/oneday/
