This medicine is available without prescription. However, you still need to use this preparation carefully to get best results from it. Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again. Ask your pharmacist if you need more information or advice. You must contact a doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3 days. How to store Hydrogen peroxide Valentis 6. Further information 1. WHAT IS HYDROGEN PEROXIDE VALENTIS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent. It causes antiseptic effect and acts as disinfectant, deodorant and as haemostatic aid. Its antimicrobial effect is rather short and weak (it acts till oxygen release), but it has effect on some viruses. In addition, it effervesces in contact with wound, therefore clears it well. Hydrogen Peroxide Valentis is used to wash wounds and as haemostatic aid to stop minor bleeding. 2. BEFORE YOU USE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE VALENTIS Do not use Hydrogen peroxide Valentis: if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to hydrogen peroxide and/or any ingredient of Hydrogen Peroxide Valentis; to wash body cavities that are not opened to the outside, because the organ can be torn, or embolism and emphysema of the neighboring tissues can take place. Take special care with Hydrogen peroxide Valentis: Hydrogen peroxide should be used only as external preparation. Due to the possible effect on cornea it is not recommended to disinfect contact lenses. The Hydrogen peroxide solution should not be heated, because heat and liquid motion induce decomposition of hydrogen peroxide; Caution is adviced in case of deep and large wounds; Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membrane; This drug should not be used together with iodine and potassium permanganate. Taking other medicines Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even those not prescribed. Hydrogen peroxide can oxidize the other used medicinal preparations; therefore their effect can be reduced. There is possible interaction with some of the organic and strongly oxidizing materials, metals, metal salts, alkali, iodides, permanganate, etc. Pregnancy and breast-feeding Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine. This preparation does not resolve form the skin therefore it can be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Driving and using machines Hydrogen Peorxide Valentis has no influence on ability to drive and use machines. Important information about some of the ingredients of Hydrogen Peorxide Valentis This product contain sodium benzoate which is mild irritant od skin, eye and mucous membrane. 3. HOW TO USE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE VALENTIS Always take Hydrogen Peroxide Valentis exactly as stated in this lealfet or as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Cutaneous use. Wash the wound several times a day. If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist. 4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS Like all medicines, Hydrogen Peroxide Valentis can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Usually this medicinal preparation does not induce any undesirable effects. Sporadic events of hypersensitivity reaction (hives, pruritus) are possible. Hydrogen peroxide 3 % solution sometimes can cause not significant skin irritation. In case of the contact with eyes it can cause corneal injury. If it is used as mouth wash, it can cause ulcers of mucous membrane. If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist. 5. HOW TO STORE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE VALENTIS Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not store above 25 0C. Keep the bottle in outer carton. Protect from light. Do not use Hydrogen Peroxide Valentis after the expiry date which is stated on the label. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment. 6. FURTHER INFORMATION What Hydrogen Peroxide Valentis contains The active substance is hydrogen peroxide. 1 ml of preparation contains 30 mg hydrogen peroxide. The other ingredients are sodium benzoate and purified water. What Hydrogen Peroxide Valentis looks like and contents of the pack Hydrogen Peroxide Valentis 3 % cutaneous solution is colourless, clear, odourless liquid. This product is marketed in 50 ml or 100 ml packaging. Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
