To know, love and obey Jesus Christ
From The Principal
Sept. 24, 2015
Ecclesiastes 4:9
9
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.
September is almost
over and October is
fast approaching. As I
reflect on our first
month of school, I am
reminded how many
committed people are
a part of strengthening
LCS and helping it
grow. From our parents, students, staff,
and community members to our society volunteers, maintenance,
and custodial staff, we
are all part of the LCS
team. Two are definitely better than one and
our good reward is
changed lives in LCS.
Welcome again to our
new students and families. I pray that you feel
a part of the LCS family and that you are able
to grow and be nurtured in the love of
God. I know that we
are not perfect, but my
prayer is that we can
work together to be-
come more like Jesus.
We are so excited to
have you join us.
Lots has been happening this month. LSAA
cross country was held
September 23, and we
await the results of our
hard-working athletes.
Volleyball season is in
full swing and the players are training hard
and enjoying the competition and teamwork. Student council
elections are taking
place this Friday and
our new leaders will
soon be revealed. Meet
the Teachers’ Night
was a success and the
Pancake Breakfast fed
over 350 people.
For those who enjoy
connecting with the
school community, we
had our first parent
council advisory committee meeting on September 21. The next
parent council meeting
will be on Monday,
October 26 at 7:00pm
in the library. Partnerships between school
and home are so important, therefore we
encourage you to come
in and meet with your
child’s teacher and myself. We want to keep
the lines of communication open.
Finally, thanks for all
that you do in supporting Lethbridge Christian School. You truly
make a difference. May
God bless you.

Hot Dog Day Helpers are still needed
for Tuesdays in order to run the program this year. We
need at least 4 more
people so if you are
available or want
more info, please
call the office .
Pancake Breakfast
The parent council
would like to say
thanks to all of you
who set up, cooked,
served and helped
out in anyway to
make the pancake
breakfast a success.
We also wish to
thank all of you who
came out and supported this event.
God bless.
October Staff
Learning Days
Parent Council Meeting
There will be no classes on the following
days:
Your parent council executive for the 2015/16 school
year is
Chair—Edna Asem
Vice-Chair—Jodie Knott
Secretary—Jodi Saad
The next regularly scheduled parent council meeting will
be held Monday, Oct. 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the library.
Oct. 5th is a professional learning day.
Oct 22nd & 23rd the staff will be attending the ACSI convention in Calgary.
Office Check In
Please remember that whenever you
come to the school you need to check
in at the office. This includes picking
up/dropping off your child, helping in
the class/school or dropping off something for your child. It is important for
us to know who is in the building.
Also, if you will be helping out in the
school in any capacity and have not yet
filled out a volunteer form, please stop
at the office and fill one out.
Indoor Shoes
Every student should have a pair of
shoes that can be left at school so that
students can change into them when
they arrive at school and also use them
for gym. If you have not sent in a pair
yet, please do so as soon as possible. Before purchasing shoes, make sure they
do not leave black marks on the floor.
Picture Day
Tuesday, Oct. 20th is picture day. Forms with choices
will be sent home as soon as they become available.
Bus Reminders
1)
If you are going to pick your child up after
school or have them go to a different drop off
point, you need to let the office know. Without
a note, phone call or email message in the office,
your child will be sent home on their regular bus
to their regular stop.
2)
If you are not going to need the bus in the morning and have not previously notified the office,
call the person directly in front of you on the
bus list and ask them to give the message to the
driver.
Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles...It empties today of its
strength.

Did you know?
The Cree are one of the largest First Nations in Canada and have one of the largest geographical distributions, extending from Alberta to Québec. The
Plains Cree and Woodland Cree are the two groups
in Alberta. Historically they were much the same,
sharing a language and customs, but they lived differently because of their environments. For instance,
Woodland Cree built their houses out of birch bark
while Plains Cree used buffalo hide to build tipis.
Entrepreneurial at heart, the Cree played a role in
the fur trade as voyageurs, hunters, and trappers.
Because many Cree women married European fur
traders, Métis culture often shares elements of Cree
culture.
