Held from 21-25 May 2016 the conference will occupy 22,000m2 of the Austria Center Vienna. “12,000m2 will be devoted to exhibitions in somewhere in the region of 800-900 scientific posters will be presented on each of the five days. The remaining 10,000m2 will be spread across 12 large rooms and halls, providing space for symposiums and free communication,” explained Sales and Event Management head, Elisabeth Hansa. Relationship marketing: the key to congress acquisition ERA-EDTA will be returning to the Austria Center Vienna for the fourth time, after events in 1990, 1994 and 2001 each attracted around 4,000 delegates. The congress has since almost doubled in size, and its new format will see it bring the best out of the venue. “Together with the Vienna Convention Bureau we have a successful, long-term relationship with ERAEDTA. We are also in particularly close contact with the Austrian Society of Nephrology (ÖGN),” Hansa added. “Vienna and the Austria Center Vienna are among the top players on the international congress circuit, which is why the ERA-EDTA Executive Board took the decision to return to Vienna and the Austria Center Vienna in 2016. At past events we have had very good experiences of the Austria Center Vienna team’s dedication and strong customer focus,” noted ERA-EDTA General Manager Anna-Maria Manara. 2016 – a very strong year for congresses and events “2016 is shaping up to be a particularly strong year for congresses and events,” announced IAKW-AG CEO Susanne Baumann-Söllner. In addition to returning events such as the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in March and the European Geosciences Union (EGU) congress in April, the Austria Center also has a long-term partnership with the United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW) congress which takes place in October. Baumann-Söllner and her team have also overseen the acquisition of various new conventions for 2016 such as the European College of Sport Science (ECSS) congress in July and the World Molecular Imaging Society (WMIS) molecular biology convention in October. “So far we have fixed bookings for six large-scale, international congresses with a total of some 66,500 delegates. Our strategy is clearly resonating well with conference organisers. Our one-stop-shop model, with its clear focus on the needs of its organisers, and our dedicated team are striking the right note with new and existing customers alike,” Baumann-Söllner concluded.
